Job Description
:

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Intelligence Director to join a dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders from various business departments to spearhead large-scale BI projects, aligning them with data-driven insights and organizational objectives.

Your primary responsibility will be to define project requirements and roadmaps that consistently drive business growth through robust analysis. As a vital member of our Business Intelligence Team, you will play a critical role in generating actionable information, developing key performance indicators (KPIs), and facilitating strategic decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

To excel in this position, you must possess strong data analysis skills and exceptional communication abilities. Previous experience as a BI Manager or Lead in an expansion-stage business is highly desirable. We are looking for an individual who can identify opportunities and operational efficiencies supported by data, while maintaining a practical vision for implementation. The ideal candidate should be able to seamlessly transition between deep data analysis and presenting valuable insights to a diverse audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with BI developers to discuss technical requirements.
  • Independently identify strategic directions, revenue growth opportunities, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support and mentor teammates through ongoing training, video calls, and check-ins.
  • Stay updated on advancements in data warehousing and maintain knowledge of evolving technologies.
  • Prioritize and manage incoming data requests, ensuring efficient output from the team.
  • Create reports and dashboards that effectively communicate data insights to end users with varying levels of data fluency.
  • Source, manage, and transform data from multiple sources to produce high-quality information that guides decision-making across various departments.
  • Take ownership of the BI tool, including user permissions, scheduled reporting, and evaluation of new technologies to drive business growth.
  • Provide concise updates to the executive team on project progress and key insights.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in SQL (Redshift, PostgreSQL) and strong analytical abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in a leadership role within Business Intelligence.
  • Proficiency with reporting tools and familiarity with proprietary tool languages/syntax (preferably Looker; Tableau or Amazon QuickSight is a plus).
