Job Title: Director of Events
Reports To:Executive Vice President, Development, Vaughan Metropolitan Centre
Department:Residential Marketing
Position Summary
The Director of Events will play a critical role in the communities across the SmartCentres portfolio by engaging the community through deliberate programming and execution of events. The successful candidate will oversee a team that manages events and activation initiatives with a focus on creating a rich and fulfilling environment for everyone who lives, works, and visits the communities.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze marketing campaigns and provide recommendations
- Partner with merchants, business development teams, and stores to identify and drive licensed business opportunities including services and pop-ups
- Other duties as assigned
- Research and recommend events and activations to enhance the experiences within a community
- Planning and execution of all aspects of events to ensure smooth operation, including but not limited to staffing, permits, budgeting, events run-down
- Work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to manage execution of events
- Develop and demonstrate a clear and concise presentation style, and ensure presentation support materials are accurate and consistent with brand standards
- Manage a team with multiple reports, working together to advance the business’ needs
- Oversee community events to achieve the goal of community building
- Proactively respond to changing business trends
- Work with cross-functional partners to drive initiatives, and manage day-to-day operations of the program, including communicating with key players, building, and sharing best practices, offering solutions to critical issues, and innovating the program to remain relevant to customers
- Work with the Marketing team to measure and review the ongoing effectiveness of the marketing programs and communicate the results to the business partners
Required Skills/Experience:
- Demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail, while also possessing a high-level strategic perspective
- Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritizing, and meeting tight deadlines
- Experience managing multiple reports
- Clear, concise, and cogent writing as well as strong PowerPoint skills are particularly valued
- Demonstrated ability or aptitude in business planning and event management
- Team collaboration and interpersonal skills
- A minimum of five (5) years of work experience with activations and/or event management
Academic/Professional Requirements:
- A post-secondary degree in events management, business, or similar
