The Position:

Summit Search Group has been retained by The Joy Smith Foundation Inc on the recruitment of their next Development Director. The Joy Smith Foundation is a national not-for-profit registered charity that works to combat human trafficking across Canada. Their mandate is to ensure that every man, woman and child is safe from manipulation and the abuse of power designed to lure and exploit them into the sex trade, known as human trafficking.

Reporting to the President & CEO the ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and exceeding fundraising objectives while ensuring that the mission and goals of the Foundation are accomplished. The successful candidate is highly self-motivated, professional, flexible, and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare information for internal and external communication such as emails, presentations, and reports.
• Manage donor relations and leverage opportunities for stewardship.
• Take responsibility to lead the development and execution of all fundraising strategies and activities.
• Plan and organize fundraising events.
• Identify opportunities to access grants and other funding, prepare and submit applications.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships with external stakeholders.
• Review and report on donor engagement and retention.
• Build and grow a wide network of stakeholders to support the Foundation, including volunteers.
• Identify and engage potential donors and secure philanthropic support.

Qualifications:

• Strong relationship builder with a friendly and professional demeanour.
• Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities.
• Superb written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills and technically proficient with an aptitude to learn new software and systems (we are a Mac environment).
• Flexible team player willing to do what it takes to get the job done; adaptable and enjoys a challenge.
• Proven track record of success in developing and implementing fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, and achieving fundraising goals.
• Grant writing ability is an asset.
• Knowledge of Blackbaud RE NXT, Team Raiser and Just Giving would be an asset.
