Director – ITSM Compliance & Regulatory



What is the opportunity?


As part of the RBC ITSM Compliance & Regulatory team, the Director ensures universal and consistent adoption of ITSM practices within RBC and its group companies. Working with process owners and operations teams, they aim to achieve process consistency and data quality.


The Director will use their knowledge of ITSM data interpretation and communication skills to produce the required evidence when representing RBC to external regulators, audit teams, and risk groups. They will also lead the organization's compliance efforts and provide expertise on ITSM practices in alignment with enterprise policies, IT risk, and technology frameworks.


The Director manages activities through senior managers and managers and implements strategic plans and budgets.


What will you do?


  • Develop and maintain methodologies to address global or local Regulatory/Audit requests relating to ITSM practices.
  • Lead one of two teams providing ITSM risk advisory services and support to Tech Infrastructure.
  • Develop a deep understanding of operational data to demonstrate RBC ITSM compliance.
  • Manage performance and development of management team and staff.
  • Address identified gaps with respective groups. Identify and address potential vulnerabilities and risks and develop resolution plans and preventive measures.
  • Conduct periodic Quantitative Risk Assessments for ITSM Processes and components. Analyze Enterprise ITSM risk profiles, recommend and oversee risk mitigation processes, and communicate regular reviews to management.
  • Develop and maintain data analysis for formal reporting to internal and external parties, and to identify issues within ITSM process compliance.
  • Support ITSM Operational risk controls that align with RBC standards, industry practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Seek industry trends and knowledge to support effective risk management practices.
  • Provide risk advisory services to platform owners for audits and coordinate information gathering.
  • Develop and enforce organization-wide risk assessment and control standards, policies, and procedures. Monitor initiatives, programs, and technologies for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of issue self-identification and support partners in Risk Issue management processes. Build and manage relationships with stakeholders, team members, and other groups. Collaborate with senior leaders to align Technology Infrastructure Initiatives.
  • Become a trusted advisor for ITSM Process Owners, Internal Risk teams, and TI Leadership.
  • Ensure fair presentation of risk statements, findings, responses, and controls in ongoing reporting and escalate to senior management when necessary.


What do you need to succeed?


Must-Have:


  • Possess five or more years of experience in core IT operations services.
  • Extensive experience with GRC or ITSM tools.
  • Ability to influence senior management, risk groups, and operational teams.
  • People management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, including relationship management, problem-solving, analytical, research, and quantitative skills.
  • Expertise in Information Security and Risk Management principles and practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent Industry-recognized qualifications and certifications in Information Security and/or Risk Management (CISSP /CRISC/CISSP).
  • Knowledge of IT Risk frameworks, methodologies, and industry standards related to ITSM Framework, including emerging trends and issues.
  • Good understanding of key infrastructure and the associated risks.
  • Have an eye for detail and the ability to see the big picture.


Nice To Have:


  • Minimum of five years of experience in all core services in Information Security/Risk Management and IT services within a Financial Institutional environment.
  • Have self-discipline and organization with proven time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Banking organization and compliance requirements
  • Previous experience in process ownership/governance.
  • Previous experience in internal or external audits.
  • Possess deep knowledge of IT Operational practices across a Financial Institutional environment.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational awareness. Possess excellent facilitation skills and practices.
