The Role
The Corporate Development Manager will report directly to the Vice President, Corporate Development & Partner Relations.
The Corporate Development Manager will be responsible for all M&A functions and shall support the Corporate Development team by way of managing and maintaining financials models with the purpose of contributing significantly to new strategic, growth-based initiatives. Furthermore, the Corporate Development Manager will provide insight and recommendations on various legal arrangements and contracts as well as develop communications for various related and 3rd party partners while managing the M&A process for corporate transactions.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with internal departments (HR, RDs, FP&A) to coordinate and support change management and communication efforts for all strategic projects that impact our joint-venture partners
- Build, update and maintain financial models relating to acquisition valuations, retention programs and partnership initiatives
- Work alongside our FP&A and Operations teams to prepare and deliver business plan communication documents for individual joint-venture clinics
- Provide go-forward action plans and recommendations based on model output
- Drafting, Reviewing and negotiating legal contracts in association with M&A activities
- Review the financial dashboards for our joint-venture clinics and assist in developing and communicating action plans
- Managing and coordinating internal and external teams to close corporate transactions
- Working with the executive team to prepare PowerPoint presentations to support the valuation process, M&A process and Partnership Engagement strategy, including ensuring that key strategic initiatives are summarized and communicated effectively to our partners
- Liaise with external parties (lawyers, accountants, brokers, valuation firms etc.) to coordinate and execute on strategic initiatives
- Continue to handle M&A deal related queries, ensuring we are up to date on market trends and supporting the M&A strategy for F24
- Working alongside corporate teams and legal advisors when VetStrategy’s interest are challenged; including analyzing the financial impact of possible incomes and proposing recommendations that support organizational goals
Background, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- Ability to work independently but as a part of a team
- Advance Excel skills and modelling using Excel related tools
- Minimum 2 to 4 years of previous accounting, finance, corporate development or M&A experience
- CFA or CPA is a strong asset
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, organize and report information
- You’re comfortable working in a pet friendly environment, when visiting the office
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with all levels of management, internal and external partners
- Experience managing / leading a team of 2+
- Clear thinking / problem solving to successfully lead cross-functional projects/process improvement within operations/finance function involving process improvement and able to quickly grasp new ideas
