About The Opportunity


We have an opportunity for a Manager, Strategy & Corporate Development to join the Centerra Corporate team. This position is based at our Toronto, ON office (Hybrid) with travel required to mine sites globally.


Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Development, the position of Manager, Strategy & Corporate Development is responsible for working on multiple complex projects globally. This position will support and occasionally lead the assessment and implementation of corporate development projects, including completing diligence reviews on mining assets or companies for investment and M&A opportunities. The position will also assist in assessing internal opportunities to maximize value within Centerra’s current portfolio. In addition, this position will support and occasionally lead business case development and Centerra’s broader strategic initiatives.


Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To


  • Participating in strategic initiatives, including assisting in managing opportunities to increase shareholder value through strategic initiatives, providing on-going optimization to the overall valuation and business development process, and performing detailed financial analysis including building and maintaining complex financial models to support Centerra’s strategic initiatives
  • Performing due diligence responsibilities for mergers & acquisitions and/or divestitures, including leading the due diligence process by providing guidance to internal cross-functional teams across Centerra and to external consultants or contractors, working closely and collaboratively with teams including mine site and corporate exploration and technical service’s engineering personnel, and acting as a senior point of contact for all due diligence matters and lead project evaluations for M&A purposes during the initial phases
  • Assessing and implementing corporate development projects, including executing analysis and assist in the implementation of corporate development initiatives, participating in and leading the assessment phase, analyzing existing information in order to identify and prioritize areas of opportunity, and working collaboratively with various corporate functions and external advisors to develop action plans to assess and execute on opportunities
  • Developing business cases, including providing business case development support from a financial evaluation and technical perspective, and collaborating and preparing a range of financial analysis, interpreting findings and proposing solutions to increase Centerra’s fundamental value


About You


To qualify, you must have 4 to 10 years of related work experience or equivalent in the mining industry, including but not limited to experience working with senior personnel and team with teams with highly technical and operational functions across different countries, site level operations and engineering experience, and detailed operational and financial analysis and modeling experience. You will also require an Undergraduate university degree in an appropriate area of expertise, with preference for mining engineering, geology, metallurgy, or equivalent technical degree.


The following skills and experiences will also be critical to successfully performing this role:


  • Proficiency in Bloomberg and / or Cap IQ
  • Highly collaborative work style, ability to work with both technical and financial leaders
  • Team player, ability to interact effectively in teams either as a leader or team member.
  • Ability to collaborate with highly skilled corporate, regional and mine site staff using influence skills rather than formal reporting authority.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Strong analytical capabilities (Excel) and good attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills in presentation development, oral communication and other documentation.


Language skills in Turkish and / or Spanish are assets, but not mandatory. Preference is also given to candidates with international experience.
