Job Summary

Our Construction Management team is seeking a Construction Manager for various water and wastewater projects. This position will involve pre-construction and construction phase services, and is considered a mid-level leadership role managing Cost, Quality, Schedule, Risk, and Safety on major construction projects. The position will require work in the field and in field office on job sites located within the Vancouver Canada metropolitan area. The position may require weekend and night work.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Monitor Contract quantities and prepares Change Directives and Change Orders as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Perform contract documentation duties, which may include field measurements of pay items as well as daily inspection reports.
• Recognize when problems develop and initiate guidance for corrective actions.
• Oversee project inspectors and monitor progress of project construction activity.
• Serve as a Construction Manager for water infrastructure projects, ensuring project delivery, budget and quality standards are maintained.
• Prepare contracts for close-out, including as-builts and punch list review.
• Coordinate with staff, clients, and contractors.
• Coordinate activities with onsite inspectors and inform Project Manager of construction progress, problem areas as well as progression of those problem areas.
• Attend and facilitate various meetings; prepare meeting minutes.
• Assure documentation and accuracy of monthly progress payments.
• Communicate with project key stakeholders, including local residents and business owners. Works to help resolve disputes.
• Review utility coordination and repair requests to resolve conflicts and track through completion.
• Perform oversight of materials testing.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

• Must have the ability to assist in the resolution of project issues effectively and efficiently.
• Relevant professional experience with the concepts and practices within the water/wastewater construction field, demonstrating diverse experience in public and municipal sectors associated with planning, design and construction of water / wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Must have good communication skills and be able to maintain legible and accurate records.
• A P. Eng designation is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
• University Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or demonstrated experience managing large water / wastewater infrastructure projects is preferred.
• PMP Accreditation or similar is desired but not required.
• Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.
• High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
• CCM Certification or similar is desired but not required.
• Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safe work practices.
• Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.
• Experience with local agencies preferred.
