This role will manage all Highline Forming construction sites and teams, including unionized and non-unionized employees.It will report to, and will work extremely closely with, the Vice President of Operations in strategic planning and execution of the company and department objectives. This role partners with Human Resources, Finance and Project Management in the execution of projects. The Construction Manager will be responsible for meeting project milestones on each site with the goal of delivering the work to the client ahead of schedule, beating budget, meeting the company’s quality standards, and providing an amazing customer experience in the process.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Work with Site Supervisors and Foremen to provide guidance on construction activities.
- Assist in sales activities if required by the Business Development team.
- Become an expert on collective agreements to work better with our unionized teams.
- Document and communicate project progress and the relevant KPIs internally.
- Provide constructability input on potential projects helping to determine estimates for labour, materials, and schedule with the PM team.
- Inspect project drawings and review work to monitor compliance with site plans, building codes, and other necessary regulations.
- Other duties as required.
- Review labour requirements for various phases of the project and ensure each site is appropriately staffed.
- Create, train, implement and monitor construction processes and procedures focusing on lean and continuous improvement activities.
- Assess and identify project risks with the PM team, work collaboratively to create risk mitigation plans, and implement risk mitigation activities to ensure project objectives are exceeded.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with unions, the CM and others on-site.
- With the PM team, execute construction projects on budget, within cost, quality, and schedule.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s safety management system and regulatory standards.
- Manage on-site employees, contractors, suppliers, equipment, and materials.
What You Bring:
- Knowledge of how to run various crews and organize work on a job site is required.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Experience on mid- & high-rise projects either with a construction company, developer, GC, CM, Architect or Structural Engineering firm is an asset.
- Experience in lean processes and continuous improvement is an asset.
- Proficiency in Procore and construction management software is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must.
- 5+ years of supervisor experience as a site supervisor or construction manager.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret structural and architectural drawings is required.
- Ability to always conduct oneself in a professional and respectful manner is required.
- Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture is an asset.
- 15+ years in construction industry.
- Specific experience in concrete forming is a must.
