Job Description
Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a skilled Chief People Officer (CPO) for our highly regarded client, a remarkable, nationally recognized nonprofit located in the East Bay region of California! Reporting to the organizations CEO, this exciting role will oversee all hiring needs and employee advancement and retention strategies to further the organizations mission, vision, and values. This full-time onsite opportunity is for immediate hire!


Position Summary:


The CPO directs all workforce activities to meet and exceed personnel goals and partners closely with the leadership team to further all recruiting, retention, and advancement efforts. Forecasting hiring needs, and crafting policies, programs, and systems that further the organizations critical mission will be at the forefront of the CPOs daily tasks. The CPO spearheads culture and employee training strategies, and designs a work environment of continuous improvement, making it optimal for recruiting, retention, and growth. The CPO leads the organizations comprehensive assessment of talent functions which support both employees and volunteers.


Responsibilities:


  • Create and implement a marketing plan for recruitment to analyze data for continuous improvement.
  • Travel to industry related conferences, meetings, and events.
  • Analyze current processes and practices to create talent strategies, recruitment processes, and training plans that promote innovation, engagement, education, and execution.
  • Collaborate with leadership on creating, enacting, and continuously improving overall organizational culture.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all relevant materials including team members, org charts, position descriptions, procedures, etc.
  • Mentor and manage two direct reports and relevant team members, providing ongoing coaching, resources, accountability, and feedback.
  • Advance the organizations culture of professionalism, transparency, compassion, and excellence.
  • Serve as a positive, exceptional leader on the organizations executive leadership team to further strategic goals.
  • Oversee and improve key performance metrics for team member diversity, inclusion, engagement, development, satisfaction, and retention.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelors of Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • SHRM Certification or Masters degree highly preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of best practices in talent acquisition and staff management.
  • Experience in applicant tracking systems (ATS), MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proven success managing and developing high-performing individuals and teams.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with FMLA, COBRA, ERISA, EEO, ACA, and all relevant labor laws, regulations, and ordinances in the state of California.
  • 5-7+ years experience in human resources leadership and high-level recruitment at the C-Suite or VP level.
  • Exceptional professional and personal integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.


Compensation and Benefits:


In addition to a competitive base salary of $210,000 to $240,000, this inspiring nonprofit offers a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with 2% employer matching, low cost pet insurance, and an optional flexible spending account (FSA)!
