Business Architect, Scotia Digital

Contributes to the overall success of CE business ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Establishes and leads the development of end-to-end business architecture with target state business capabilities, operating models, and business strategy across CE business line. Ensures all conducted activities are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

• Business Architecture Artifacts & Processes
• Works closely with Digital Banking stakeholders (e.g. Product, Design, Engineering) in the requirement gathering, estimation, backlog grooming and designs of technology solutions.
• Deep knowledge of all systems and processes in the business domain
• Participate in agile squads/sprints to support the delivery of enhancements to existing capabilities or new capabilities and functions
• Participates in development of CE Business Architecture Strategy and Guiding Principles
• Map processes to business capabilities as per enterprise standards and collaborating with appropriate SMEs
• Responsible for providing the high-level estimation of service engineering work given a feature request. Be able to learn large ecosystems focusing on the bird’s eye view and asking the right questions to come up with reasonable estimates factoring uncertainties.
• Responsible for high-level E2E solutioning by working closely with software architects of service engineering teams, client application teams (Mobile, Web, etc.) as well as backend teams (CBT teams, External vendors, etc.).
• Analyze the industry & market trends to determine new & potential business capabilities
• Support various initiatives across teams, by identifying relevant opportunities for rationalization, transformation & simplification
• Oversee modelling & support approval for updates to business architecture models for the business domain
• Engage in all phases of ongoing critical initiatives including target state definition, design & execution, as well as having
• Work on multiple projects with Senior Manager, Business Architecture to stand-up Business Architecture Artifacts and Processes (e.g., business capability maps, business architecture modelling) following Enterprise Business Architecture Standards
• Identify impacts to Business Capabilities by participating in transformation programs & initiatives
• Develop and maintain Business Architecture Capability Maturity Models Onboarding and Marketing platforms
• Manage efforts to identify & document capabilities & initiative needs & strategic prioritization into business architecture deliverables (roadmaps, etc.)

Governance & Standards Alignment

• Ensure solutions developed across organization are aligned to enterprise architecture standards/principles and leverage common solutions & services
• Participate in Architecture Governance Forums to prepare and present materials for necessary approvals

Business Artifacts Consolidation

• Update mapping of business & technology capabilities to the target state processes, technology capabilities &

applications, customer/employee experiences (technology components to be completed by Technology Architect)

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of dayto-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
• Create appropriate process documentation and storing in central business architecture repository

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

• 3+ years of practical experience in business architecture or related position
• Strong ability to execute with limited information and ambiguity
• Experience using model-based representations & ability to visualize & create high level models
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, capable of balancing multiple perspectives, effective at
• Prior consulting experience highly relatable to this position
• Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of stakeholders; set direction and approach, resolve conflict

all levels

• Ability to connect programs/projects to broader organizational goals and grasp the key performance drivers of

business partners

• ACAMS Certification is an asset.
• Education (Computer Engineering degree or similar)/Work experience (8+ years of practical experience)
• Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge in Project Management & Training/ Experience in Agile Methodology
• Strong understanding of architecture, systems & integration
• Business Architecture Certification is an asset
