Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Clerk

What skills do we expect you to have?

• Basic accounting knowledge including journal entry preparation and reconciliations.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and manage workload to meet deadlines
• Ability to propose system and process improvements and assist in implementing to improve efficiency of the organization.
• Ability to identify issues and work with persons and parties involved to resolve in an organized and accountable manner.
• Computer literate in Google Sheets/Microsoft Office Excel (ability to understand and ideally use from scratch sumifs, pivot tables, etc.), email and efficiency with QuickBooks Online.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

What will we expect you to deliver?

• Manage account payable function of the organization ensuring that bills are entered and paid accurately, within deadlines and due dates (taking full responsibility within 12 weeks).
• Manage email accounts of A/P and A/R and seek approvals or assign responsibility to the appropriate person per financial policies (taking primary responsibility within 1 month).
• Enter/code transactions into accounting software and on a timely basis in accordance with the weekly and monthly deadlines.
• Monitor, enforce and comply with financial policies and internal controls.
• Review credit card transactions and manage the sync/migration and coding process within QuickBooks Online (taking ownership of the process within 6 weeks).
• Perform account reconciliations ensuring transactions are coded accurately and comprehensively and assist with other month-end tasks as assigned (taking full responsibility for assigned accounts and transactions within 12 weeks).
• Manage accounts receivable function of the organization to ensure payments received are entered and recorded accurately and timely, and customer balances are monitored to reduce overdue payments (taking full responsibility within 6 weeks).

What Qualifications and Experience do we expect?

Required

• 3+ years of industry experience with responsibility for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Experience working in QuickBooks Online and Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel

Nice To Have

• Post-secondary education/training in bookkeeping or accounting
• Experience working in the finance department for growing technology companies
• Experience with other accounting software

Location

• 4 days/week in office (Kitchener) with opportunity for 1 day work from home arrangement
