THE ROLE AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


Reporting to the Vice President, Sourcing, Operations & Member Engagement, the Senior Category Manager Strategic Sourcing, Non-Clinical Indirect Spend is an authentic leader responsible for assisting with the execution of the strategic direction and operational excellence of the Strategic Sourcing Department. The Manager will be responsible to ensure that the team of strategic sourcing professionals achieve their personal best performance, and deliver exceptional service and value. The Senior Category Manager is a leader who strives for excellence with an engaging and inclusive management style.


The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Management


  • Developing strong vendor relations to ensure operational excellence and help to achieve savings targets
  • Developing and successfully executing yearly strategic sourcing plans, including savings targets, milestones, SSO collaborative opportunities, and other relevant strategy considerations
  • Developing relationships with the collective strategic sourcing teams and leadership teams to ensure a highly engaged and cohesive team
  • Developing and maintaining a performance focused, customer centric, and results oriented team
  • Establishing, monitoring, and being accountable for team key performance indicators including staff on-time performance, savings targets, data quality being recorded in various SSW systems, customer satisfaction results, and compliance with Broader Public Sector Procurement Directives
  • Serving as a member of the Strategic Sourcing Management Team, as well as the SSW Leadership Team while actively developing and supporting strategic plans, annual priority initiatives, and the evolution of SSW
  • Ensuring open lines of communication and feedback from customer management stakeholders by conducting regular business reviews

Analysis


  • Analyzing market opportunities and vendor qualifications
  • Analyzing and pro-actively seeking opportunities for enhanced standardization and process improvement
  • Analyzing opportunities to run and/or participate in joint RFP’s and for contract collaboration


Compliance


  • Maintaining the Broader Public Sector (BPS) compliance of duties performed by strategic sourcing staff
  • Maintaining document retention and ensuring a high degree of data integrity


Reporting


  • Providing monthly, quarterly, and annual activity reports against plan

Human Resources

  • Recruiting staff in collaboration with the Human Resources department
  • Reviewing and managing staff performance including regular one-on-one touch points
  • Assisting staff in achieving personal objectives, and creating career development plans


POSITION REQUIREMENTS


Education


  • Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP / CPP) certification, or Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) membership is an asset
  • Project management training is an asset
  • Conflict resolution training is an asset
  • Mediation/negotiation training is an asset
  • University undergraduate degree in business or related field


Work Experience


  • Experience in managing multiple, competing priorities or projects of various sizes, scopes and complexities.
  • Experience in managing RFx processes and in Contract Management
  • Experience in sourcing in information technology, human resources, Health Information System (HIS), corporate services, and related equipment and services
  • Seven (7) years of sourcing in direct spend product and solutions, preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Experience mentoring / leading colleagues through Strategic Sourcing initiatives
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams


Knowledge and Understanding


  • Knowledge of RFP & Contract law is required
  • Knowledge of clinical and building infrastructure categories is an asset
  • Strong project management skills


Technical Skills


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Online RFx posting sites (e.g. Bonfire)
  • Business and statistical software applications – intermediate

WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • Office hours are generally 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (with some flexibility), Monday to Friday.
  • Travel (<20%) required for meetings with clients and stakeholders (in the GTA).
