PCP/CPM is considered a mandatory requirement.

Reporting and monitoring of payroll and benefits costs

Five years of progressive experience in payroll, preferably in a unionized environment.

Extensive knowledge of payroll regulations and issues of compliance.

1-2 years previous billing experience

Payrate - $36,000-38,000 annually, will be paid on a weekly basis

Fulltime, Monday - Friday from 8:30AM - 5:00PM

Generating paper/electronic invoicing to drivers and clients

Ensuring all documentation matches: purchase orders, packing slips, billing documents, time sheets, and etc.

Preparation of monthly and quarterly payroll and benefits-related journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.

Provide support to the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator as needed (reporting, year-end reconciliation, payroll processing, etc.).

Maintain a high level of payroll, accounting, and human resources knowledge to provide value added payroll services.

Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association is strongly desired.

Detail oriented with analytical skills and ability to resolve and explain complex payroll issues.

Knowledge of Avanti and Kronos considered an asset.

Manage 3rd party Payroll providers (if applicable)

Follow up with managers/employees on missing documentation

Monitor changes in tax status of employees

Process and distribute manual checks

Maintain and administer employee earnings information

Maintain and administer applicable deductions

• 5-8 years management experience in a busy payroll environment

• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills required

• Knowledge of current Canadian legislative requirements and CRA regulations

• 5 years of high-volume retail and payroll experience

• Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and Kronos

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong knowledge of payroll systems, internal controls, and management

Creates and manages an organization structure that will meet the payroll processing needs of IH.

Provides input and makes recommendations to the Controller on financial issues as they relate to the strategic direction of IH.

Responsible for the selection, evaluation, development, discipline, and, if necessary, termination of staff. Negotiates essential service levels.

Responsible for planning, approving, and implementing automations to affect bargain unit jobs.

Checks and audits all payrolls, ensuring legislative compliance (tax compliance, superannuation, etc.).

Your experience and skills include:

Manage vacation entitlements and accruals in accordance with GAAP, the Collective Agreement and Company vacation policy.

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations related to all payroll and benefit accounts.

Assist with payroll queries from employees and managers.

Experience and knowledge in processing USA payrolls is an asset.

Issue annual tax benefit and pension forms for all locations.

Minimum 5 years of payroll processing for multi provincial payrolls in a large organization with union experience.

Working knowledge of industry payroll systems such as Avanti or ADP is preferred

Effective communication skills both verbal and written to interact at all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of payroll compliance, provincial and federal employment legislation for Canada.

Minimum seven (7) years of experience in payroll administration and benefits management including 1 to 3 years of managerial experience

Collaborate with external vendors, brokers, and insurers to ensure efficient benefits administration, plan renewals, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Set objectives, monitor team performance, provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring, and oversee overall process management and performance for the Payroll team.

In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations, employment standards, and tax requirements.

Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and additional employee perks.

Oversee open enrollment periods and provide employees with information and guidance on benefit options.

Strong time management and organizational skills to consistently meet payroll deadlines

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)

Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing, data entry, or a similar role

Perform data entry tasks, validate payroll information, and prepare reports as requested

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and processing

Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills

Experience in Canadian payroll management

Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills

5 years of related managerial experience

Manage overall payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and time for all employees (salaried, fixed-rate, temporary, expatriates).

Oversee and manage all aspects of SAP Time and Schedule including queries, configuration, and maintenance of schedules.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other business functions.

Knowledge of Wagepoint Payroll Software, Xero Accounting Software, Receipt Bank, and Hubdoc is an asset (not a requirement)

Correspondence with clients and the bookkeeping team to ensure timely service and a hands-off experience

At least three years of payroll experience in a fast-paced environment for a company or companies with multiple employees

Experience processing payroll in multiple provinces (QC an asset)

You have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

You are a multi-tasker and can manage multiple clients simultaneously

Experience with performance management systems, HRIS products, or payroll products

Demonstrate the ability to independently manage complex implementations with multiple requirements

Knowledge or experience with payroll regulations
