The Role

The Zund Operators are responsible for the maintenance of the large format cutting machines and the quality of the final product. Reporting to the Production Manager, the perfect candidates would be organized, a quick learner and interested in the technical aspects of machinery. This individual must be detailed and process-oriented and able to apply their critical thinking skills to solve problems.

What you’ll be doing:

• Maintain a continuous workflow
• Learn from expert technicians to reduce additional outsourced repair costs
• Train other members of the Production Team when required
• Troubleshoot common issues independently
• Assist with research and development initiatives where required by team lead
• Encourage safe and productive work behavior through example and communication
• Assist with planning and executing the large format cut load on a daily basis
• Communicate openly with management about concerns regarding processes, equipment, software and/or employee issues and inventory needs
• Know when to solve problems independently and when to involve others
• Hold a strong understanding of workflows and process organization
• Complete special projects when assigned or given by the Production Manager or Team Lead
• Perform consistent and constant maintenance on the Zund machines
• Alternative responsibilities may be added
• Brainstorm strategies to improve product quality, reduce production issues, decrease cost per page and increase employee morale

Requirements:

• Can lift 50 lbs and is able to stand for the duration of an 8 to 10-hour shift.
• Has education or work experience in the Graphic Arts and/or Printing field
• High proficiency in Windows OS, G-suite and Microsoft office. Specifically: Google Sheets, Excel, Google Docs, Word, and Gmail.
• Authorized to live and work in Canada
• Has knowledge of any print Digital Front End software eg. Zund Cut Center, Onyx, Roland VersaWorks, EFI Fiery, Xeikon X-800, etc, (bonus)
• Strong mathematical and technical skills.
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills and active listening skills
• Has 1-2 years experience in the print industry
