Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Woodlands Operations Coordinator to work out of our mill site in Athabasca, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of quality logs to the mill site, coordinating logging, hauling, road construction and maintenance, reclamation activities and associated contract management.

Role responsibilities
- Project planning and risk and issue management: Coordinating logging, hauling, road construction, road maintenance, reclamation activities and associated contract management. Assisting in managing capital road construction and road maintenance upgrades.
- Budgeting: Delivering cost expectations while supporting safety, quality, production, community and environmental objectives. Preparing and presenting budget variance and quarterly reports.
- Indigenous community and stakeholder engagement: Liaising with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and Rural Economic Development (AFRED) to obtain plan approvals and meet legislative requirements. Engage with Indigenous communities and local stakeholders regarding economic opportunities in forest harvest operations.
- Operations management: Managing a large operations area and delivering quality logs to the mill site with a focus on operational efficiency.
- Inspections: Providing technical support to perform quality inspections for harvesting production, road and drainage structures, log quality and reclamation in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
Role requirements
- Comprehensive job-related experience to fully competent level.
- Frequent travel on variable road conditions.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation and regulations related to forest harvest operations.
- Experience in planning, GIS mapping and road engineering.
- University degree or technical diploma in forestry with five or more years of work experience.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular working hours when required.
- Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
- Overnight stays may be required at fully serviced camps or hotels.
- Proven track record of supervisory experience in forestry operations including logging, hauling and road construction.
- Active Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or eligible for Alberta certification.
