Job Description
Position Title: AP Coordinator


Location: Edmonton, AB (Remote)


Type: Permanent, Full-time


The Position


Our Edmonton-based client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized AP Coordinator to join their finance team. The AP Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions, maintaining financial records, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.


What You'll Do


  • Review and verify invoices for accuracy, ensuring proper coding and approvals before processing payments.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies to ensure timely payments and accurate financial records.
  • Match purchase orders, receiving documents, and invoices to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Assign proper expense categories and cost centers to invoices for accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline AP processes, improve efficiency, and contribute to the enhancement of the finance department's operations.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and maintain positive relationships.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable files and documentation for audit and reference purposes.
  • Prepare and process electronic and check payments, ensuring adherence to payment schedules and company policies.
  • Enter invoices, expenses, and financial transactions into the accounting system with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.


Mandatories


  • Proven experience (3+ years) in accounts payable or related financial roles.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with vendors and internal stakeholders professionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office software for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and compliance related to accounts payable.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, expense coding, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies and identify process improvements.
