About The Role

The Warehouse Supervisor will be a part of the operations leadership team. Working from one of our Mississauga warehouses, this role is responsible for supervising a group of unionized employees and assisting in the management of various daily functional activities of the warehouse. This includes working towards attaining targets for put-away, picking, processing, and shipping of Inbound Raw Parts and/or Outbound Finished Goods in accordance with company policies and procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This role will cover the 11PM-730AM shift

What You Will Be Working On

• Continuously monitor the performance and activities of the warehouse through the use of KPIs with a primary focus on cost controls
• Works in cooperation with Human Resources on Labour Relations issues
• Recommends improvements in work procedures to improve productivity, safety, quality, and efficiency
• Supervise a team of unionized warehouse employees, including delegation of tasks, training, coaching, and directing corrective action to resolve day-to-day operational issues
• Enforce policies regarding security and safety in order to maintain a safe working environment
• Communicates daily to Distribution Manager and Warehouse Manager on achievement of shift targets, shift issues and provides daily production reports
• Plan warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full warehouse optimization
• Ensure all orders are shipped to customers in a timely manner including investigation of lost or damaged shipments
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and conduct periodic spot-checks of inventory levels, supplies, or equipment
• Apply, record and document discipline fairly and consistently as per CBA
• Plans, communicates, and executes daily shift work plan outlining work assignments based on daily priorities, equipment availability, and space utilization

What are we looking for?

• Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation management
• Diploma, degree or post-secondary education or equivalent experience
• 5 years of work experience in a supervisory role ideally in a unionized warehouse environment
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
• A proven leader with strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization
• Experience with MS Office, radio frequency ID systems (RFID), bar code systems, and electronic data interchange (EDI) is an asset
