Job Description
Our Client
At this time, our Client wishes to remain anonymous.  However, short-listed candidates will be informed who the company is prior to submittal to the Client for consideration.
The Opportunity
The VP, Sourcing and Supply Chain will develop and execute an enterprise-level strategy for global sourcing and supply chain, aligning with the overall goals of our Client. Based full-time at our Client’s Winnipeg, MB office, the VP, Sourcing and Supply Chain will be responsible for streamlining vendor relationships and logistic operations to ultimately increase enterprise buying power and profitability. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, Global Sourcing executive with current, multi-national relationships in the garment industry combined with a strong understanding of the Canadian retail landscape.
 
Please note, Relocation support to Winnipeg, MB will be provided for qualified candidates who presently reside elsewhere within Canada.
Required Experience and Qualifications
 
·   Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field
·   15+ years of Global Sourcing Leadership experience is a must with a proven record of effecting change
·   Specific category experience with Denim is strongly preferred
·   Multi-National experience is a must, specifically within China, Southeast Asia, Indian Subcontinent
·   Proven experience in the successful operation and development of an effective global purchasing organization
·   Previous hands-on, direct management of a costs of goods budget of at least $50mm
·   Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders (GMM’s, Presidents, Wholesalers, Industry Associations and the Board of Directors)
·   Accomplished RFP/bid management experience and contract negotiation skills
·   Vast understanding of raw material product sourcing, as well as development to finished product
·   Strong understanding of tools, analytics and best practices involved in foundational sourcing & procurement planning
·   Solid understanding of the global landscape with competency in foreign trade agreements, ensuring that our Client is manufacturing in the appropriate countries, factories and mills
·   Solid understanding of the Canadian Retail & Wholesale landscape is required
·   Strong network of industry contacts in raw material, factories, and vendors
·   Proven ability to develop a team while innovating new organizational capabilities
·   Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables
·   Advanced communication and negotiation skills
·   Strong critical thinking skills
·   Strong conflict management ability and high emotional intelligence
·   Experience with PLM applications
·   Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
 
Responsibilities of the Position
STRATEGY
·   Uphold and, when necessary, revise the vendor Code of Conduct (requiring vendors to operate in an ethical and environmentally friendly manner)
·   Effectively assess, manage and resolve vendor performance, capacity, and capability gaps
·   Cultivate best practices that will increase efficiency, save money, and enhance service
·   Cultivate, execute, and manage a global sourcing strategy in a manner that aligns with the growth plan of the enterprise
·   Create a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) process that provides visibility into the status of the different elements and stages occurring during the development and approval process of all products
·   Predict product demands and trends to identify potential opportunities for consolidation and development solutions
·   Negotiate contracts for all ocean and domestic transportation
·   Identify and apply shipping visibility tools to proactively recognize the potential risks or changes to current lead times, easing possible supply chain disruptions
·   Work closely with the executive team to develop sourcing and supply chain strategies that support the company’s strategic initiatives
SOURCING OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
·   Identify key opportunities for consolidation of fabrics and commodities, and manage vendor activity related to sampling, process development, development of new resources, and pricing
·   Continuously strive to reduce overall lead time and establish fast-track processes to allow for quick-to-market opportunities to support growth, while reducing inventory risk
·   Establish denim wash development plan and strategy
·   Maintain all vendor relationships while providing ongoing evaluations of vendor performance
·   Manage profit margin through clear and coherent understanding of costs between vendors and all retail banners
·   Support vendor requirements for quality specifications for new and existing products
·   Onboard and train all new vendors
·   Keep open communication with all stakeholders in the business regarding any changes or updates to free trade and ethical sourcing agreements
·   Standardize logistics processes, ensuring proper use of best practices
·   Establish contingency plans with cost-effective solutions for dealing with potential transportation capacity restraints
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
Warehousing & Logistics
·         Provide leadership and support to the Director in the oversight of the Canadian & US distribution centers / inbound and outbound logistics
·         Keep team accountable to continuously striving for on-time delivery and set and establish KPI’s to measure ongoing performance for delivery to retail partners and direct-to-consumer business
·         Recommend warehousing strategies to maximize business and customer value
·         Ensure continuous optimization of processes to minimize labor costs in distribution centers, while maximizing service levels
Product Development
·         Provide leadership and support to the Director of Product Development
·         Ensure effective execution of product development from wash development, samples development, through to delivery of accurate specs and tech packs to the factories
Operations & Production Planning
·         Provide leadership and support to the Director of Operations in oversight of all aspects of operations
·         Develop and implement a quality assurance program, including resources, systems and processes
·         Establish KPI’s metrics for all areas of operations
