VP of Software Engineering

NOTE: HYBRID work model, office located in Mississauga, Ontario

Work Experience: 7+ years senior leadership software development team (50+ Devs and QA), MES, Semi-Conductor, SaaS, Cloud, Change Management, Net, C#, Java, SQL Server, React, Python, jQuery, Angular, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IIS, GitHub, MS TFS

DESCRIPTION:


Seeking a results-driven, senior technology executive to lead the company across all technology functions. Reporting to the CTO, the VP of Software Development will partner our product team, clients, vendors and take ownership of all company technology, engineering and related security matters.

Aligned and informed with the CTO, the VP of Software Development will guide the company’s technology vision, product development strategy, and lead the planning and execution of our technology initiatives. Will own and oversee all product development activities, security initiatives, as well as all private and public cloud infrastructure planning, implementation, and operations.

A candidate with experience in a senior technology position at a mature SaaS organization with multi-national divisions is our primary target. Being well-versed in building and delivering SaaS solutions including cloud and hybrid cloud migrations will provide the proper baseline for success. You will demonstrate quantifying value delivery through functional improvements or reduction of technical debt.

We desire the senior IT leader to prioritize deliverables and manage ambiguity. Effective leadership will be demonstrated through expanding the team, internal team building, onboarding, career growth, performance management and being a cultural steward of our company values.

This position may require travel in North America and internationally.

  • Develop mechanisms to ensure that all products and services are developed, delivered, and maintained at the highest possible quality, in budget and on schedule
  • Be the champion and leader forbuilding processes and culture focused on cyber security; Ensure that products and systems maintain regulatory compliance for markets served
  • Build a productive and efficient team by cultivating talent through recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and performance improvement
  • Lead or participate in other assigned projects
  • Define and continuously refine the company’s product development and software and cloud engineering best practices and operational standards and ensure that those standards are consistently met
  • Grow and mentor a cloud engineering team which supports requisite standards and certifications for reliability, scalability, disaster recovery, security and cost
  • Work with the CTO in the definition and communication of company technology strategy to the Board of Directors, Provide quarterly updates to the Board on progress toward initiatives
  • In collaboration with the CTO and other functional leaders, be a co-owner (with CPO) of the formulation and maintenance of the company’s product and technology growth strategy and roadmaps, with a focus on identifying and championing technology-driven opportunities and remediating technical debt
  • Be the company’s visible technology leader by defining and communicating the company's technology vision and strategy. Define and manage the engineering and cloud budget and spend


REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or related fields from an accredited college or university

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in software development; Experience building and delivering SaaS solutions including cloud and hybrid cloud migrations
  • Advanced competencies software technologies and development tools such as .Net, C#, Java, SQL Server, React, Python, jQuery, Angular, AWS/Azure/Google Cloud, IIS, GitHub and Team Foundation Server
  • 7+ years in a leadership role with recent strategic oversight. Will manage 30+ developers and QA engineers.

· Master’s degree and/or certifications are desired

  • Prior experience with mergers and acquisitions preferred; Experience with managing and assimilating software solutions acquired through acquisitions
  • Able to build a strong network of interpersonal relationships with employees, peers, clients and vendors
  • “Big picture” thinker with ability to build and deliver software solutions against key deliverables
