Morguard is seeking a dynamic Director, Sustainability to join their team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Risk Management and National Programs, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing their integrated sustainability strategy. You'll have the chance to continuously enhance and oversee the execution of this strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, adherence, and exceptional performance. Your contributions will drive both short and long-term sustainability results that align with their corporate values.
Your New Role
In this influential role, you'll lead the charge in developing, implementing, and continuously improving Morguard’s comprehensive sustainability strategy and programs. Crafting tailored sustainability training solutions for stakeholders across various organizational levels, you'll ensure alignment with their overarching training and talent development strategy. Collaborating closely with investors and senior management, you'll have the unique opportunity to conceptualize and communicate the organization's sustainability standards across all asset classes. Enhancing their sustainability compliance initiatives involves driving cost reduction, nurturing regulatory agency relationships, and fostering meaningful engagements with industry associations. You'll identify and advocate for industry best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches. By championing these advancements, you will further solidify Morguard’s position as a leading advisory services provider within the sustainability landscape. Representing the organization with a diverse array of stakeholders in external functions, industry committees, and conferences, you'll enhance their market share, establish brand differentiation, and amplify the credibility and awareness of their sustainability initiatives. You’ll lead efforts in hiring, training, mentoring, and coaching as fostering the growth and development of the sustainability team will be a key responsibility.
What Sets You Apart
To excel in this role, you should hold a Master's degree (e.g., Sustainability, CSR, Environmental Science) or equivalent experience. Alternatively, an Undergraduate degree coupled with extensive related experience will be considered. A minimum of 7 years of leadership experience within the sustainability function will set you up for success. A robust background in ESG program management is essential, complemented by proficiency in written communications, reporting, and stakeholder presentations. You have a proven track record of training, development, facilitation and mentoring. You should also possess a strong aptitude for developing and delivering management, leadership, and change management programs. Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards and surveys (such as GRESB, GRI, IFRS, SDGs, SASB, etc.) is required. LEED AP designation will be an asset and familiarity with annual sustainability reporting and ESG management and reporting software will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
