Technical Drafter Jobs

Homes by Sorensen is looking for a Custom Residential Home Building Drafter to join our team. This position is responsible for creating and executing the design of all drawings for the residential custom home, including concept blueprint, permit (development and building permit) blueprints, sketches, elevation drawings, cabinetry drafting and renderings.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Must have residential custom home blueprint and drafting experience (3+ years)
• Assist Project Manager with tasks related to project management as needed.
• 3-5 years experience with The City of Calgary LUB bylaws and building codes.
• 3-5 years experience with Revit or comparable is a must.
• Assisting with preparing our internal Builder Binder that we call "The Codex", experience with Canva or PDF design would be an asset.
• Ordering materials, as required.
• Ensure that all materials are correctly listed in the shop order system.
• Create and execute the design of all blueprints and drawings for the residential custom home project.
• Assisting with basic take-offs.
• Manage all drawings for the project from start to finish.
• Ensure that all drawings are properly signed by the client as work is being done in the office or on site at a job site.
• Manage drawings from start to finish with a high level of quality control.
• Review all drawings prior to delivery for accuracy and completeness.
• Administration tasks that relate to Drafting.
• Ensure that all drawings are in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. Specific experience with The City of Calgary and Rocky Mountain County is a must.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Experience:Minimum 3 years of experience in Custom Residential Home Building Drafting & Drawing, Architectural Drafting, Cabinetry/Millwork Drafting, or other related fields. Minimum 3 years experience with Revit required. Must be able to work independently with little supervision and have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards. Must have the ability to manage a list of tasks and review regularly for priority and due dates.
