Position:Estimator

Reporting to:Manager, Estimating and Purchasing

Location:Calgary corporate office (on-site)

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Estimating & Purchasing Manager, the Estimator plays a crucial role within the company ensuring all information, PO’s and material take-offs are distributed to the appropriate departments and trades within the construction timeline.The Estimator is extremely detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and cost control.

Key Result Areas:

oIssue purchase orders and ‘request for quotes’ in conjunction with the appropriate construction stage.

oReview and accept quotes from various trades and suppliers.

oAnalyze working drawings and accurately complete material take-offs.

oAssist, review and reconcile interior selections documents and quotes to ensure process is completed within the given timeframes.

oReport status of interior selections process on a weekly basis to Estimating & Purchasing Manager.

oMaintain cost control by ensuring accuracy of pricing from trades and suppliers, working within budget parameters, and reviewing invoices against purchase orders.

oEnsure all information received is accurate and passed on to necessary departments in a timely fashion.

oComplete custom pricing upon request.

oCommunicate with Sales, Construction, Interior Selections and Design departments.

oCompleting purchase order summaries to determine profitability on an individual job basis.

oNegotiate with trades and suppliers on custom pricing.

oOther accountabilities as needed and as directed by the Manager.

Qualifications:

oA minimum of 3 years of directly related experience with a home building company.

o2 year diploma in Building Development Technologies (BDT) or equivalent.

oExceptional communication skills (written and verbal).

oKnowledge of residential construction.

oExperience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook at BuildTopia is an asset.

oAttentive to detail, collaborative and a strong team player.
