Overview

The Drafter will use computer aided design (CADD) software to create detailed and complex diagrams of electrical systems designed by engineers. The Drafter will also revise existing drawings as necessary in accordance with client standards. This member will also be responsible for providing technical support to the junior drafting staff and will be expected to maintain proper communication with the project stakeholders and team members.

What will you do as a Drafter at Spark Power?

• Managing drafting standards, templates, and cells.
• Create drawings for the engineering design package for projects, including single lines, schematics, layouts, elevations, communication, and radio tower. This may come from written or verbal instructions.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Perform drafting of field mark-ups for record drawings.
• Perform detailed drafting of high voltage substations (power, grounding, lighting, lightning, electric heat tracing and equipment layouts) and associated single lines, three-lines & schematics/wiring diagrams.
• Mentor and provide technical support to the junior drafting staff.
• Liaise with customers and team members for regular communication and feedback on work progress.
• Make site visits as required.
• Create and store documents electronically.
• Decision making is based on established guidelines with some independent judgement required.

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for:

• Experience modeling 2D within AutoCAD and MicroStation is desirable.
• Experience with MicroStation would be considered an asset.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written)
• Diploma in Engineering Drafting Technology from a recognized technical institute
• Eligible for registration as a C.E.T. with accredited association.
• 3-5 years of experience drafting electrical designs.
• Proficient with drafting/drawing software including MicroStation, AutoCAD & Microsoft Visio.
