VDC/CAD Coordinator (Student) - Edmonton
What You’ll Be Working On
Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment.
We are seeking a student to join us for a 4-month co-op position starting in September 2023. This position will be based out of Edmonton, AB.
Responsibilities
  • Support preconstruction activities
  • Have a passion for applying VDC to improve productivity in design and construction, and encourage creativity and innovation.
  • Keep record of the issue resolution process and coordination meetings
  • Support the use of mobile technology and other VDC applications in the field
  • Provide a communication link between design and construction teams
  • Provide support for laser scanning and model-based field layout
  • Manage the spatial coordination process by holding recurring collaboration meetings with project teams
  • Support Bird Construction's Projects team
  • Review and analyze coordination models for spatial coordination and quality control
  • Ensure project deliverables and information meet VDC Department requirements
  • Assist in the development of hardware and software standards, standards for modeling, and maintaining an element library when required
Who We Need On Our Team
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships
  • You are currently enrolled in an Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent program
  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals
  • If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
  • Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries
  • Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude
