Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to Finance Manager, as Estimatoryou will analyze costs and prepare estimates to facilitate the construction of new homes. You also provide knowledge of costs and benefits that support profitable business decisions.Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team based on business needs.
• Prepare and review final job cost reports each month for jobs closing that month. All variances to be reviewed, reported and corrected, as necessary.
• Assist in the maintenance of the database by reporting errors and potential enhancements.
• Prepare job release to field for construction start and release job purchase orders on a timely basis and in conjunction with the purchase order release schedule.
• Prepare and distribute purchase orders, change orders and other required documents to suppliers or trades. Ensure accuracy and cohesion of purchase orders and budgets.
• Monitor project budgets throughout the project lifecycle. Review invoices, analyze costs, and prepare regular cost-to-complete reports to identify variances.
• Review sold home contracts thoroughly to ensure items on plans reconcile to amounts charged and vice versa.
• Review invoices exceeding purchase order amounts to determine legitimacy of charges and provide corrective action to prevent future duplication of variance.
• Work with the accounting team to analyze efficiencies in cost control.
• Maintain a directory of suppliers and trades while fostering positive relationships. Solicit and review quotes, and remain up-to-date on pricing and options.
• Produce accurate cost budgets on custom price requests.
• Complete and/or review project take-offs and estimate job files to ensure accuracy and completeness. Estimate material and labour costs and identify costs savings opportunities.

Requirements, Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience within the residential home construction industry.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask in a multi-faceted work environment.
• Experience using Buildertrend, Home front, and Buildtopia will be a strong asset.
• Work well with peers, trades and suppliers while maintaining high regard for professionalism.
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload while paying attention to details.
• Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in related field is an asset.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
