Your Team

The Senior Estimator is part of the Homes team, and reports to the Senior Project Manager. The Senior Estimator is critical in coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to expedite production and resolve issues as they arise. The incumbent is responsible for the cost estimating, purchasing and the training and maintenance of team members, to ensure achievement of annual production objectives. This position is responsible for developing detailed project plans, inclusive of review of technical drawings, site logistics, costing, project scheduling and financial and customer satisfaction metrics.

In working with Senior and Development Managers, they will provide recommendations and strategies that promote success as future projects are evaluated.

The Senior Estimator liaises between Estimating team members, trade partners, suppliers, Construction, Design, Accounting, and Sales team members to ensure the accuracy of information for production.

Your Key Deliverables

• Review & explain cost increases and next quarter projections
• Prepare and set up project budgets, set up and price models, blocks, products and pre planned options in the system
• Ensure PO’s and information are sent to trade partners, suppliers and Construction team members in a timely manner
• Monitor project cost overrun and address with the Senior Project Manager for any budgetary concerns
• Review variances, identify, and implement required changes to budgets and processes to reduce variance
• Execute tendering procedures, examine and analyse tenders with the approvals from the Senior Project Manager based on price, past performance, quality and safety

Must Haves

• Post-secondary education in Architectural Technologies/ Building Development Technologies or experienced Certified Engineering Technologist
• 5+ years of experience in estimating
• 1+ year of leadership experience
• Ability to manage and oversee a large volume of production in a fast paced environment
• NewStar Experience would be an asset
• Proven ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and act with a sense of urgency
• Strong MS Office skills
• Experience with accounting and budgeting
