Systems Engineer - Security

Job Overview
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is searching for a Systems Engineer - Security on our Security Engineering team to create innovative solutions to secure applications and infrastructure. Security Engineering is an international team that provides solutions for securing infrastructure and applications and to provide guidance to international development teams on secure coding practices and the Secure Development Lifecycle.
What You’ll Do

• Use GitLab to store code and scripts
• Create and maintain IaC pipelines
• Perform upgrades and other maintenance during non-business hours
• Create and maintain as-built documentation for new software deployments
• Work in synergy with infra/product engineering teams in defining baseline security configuration, build continuous visibility for detecting misconfigurations/ vulnerabilities
• Provide installation and design guidance to patch management team for mass deployment to servers, containers and workstations
• Integrate new and legacy applications with DataDog for log ingestion, creation of alerts and dashboards
• Build, configure, deploy new software applications while adhering to infosec guidelines
• Perform RCA on failed security updates and provide automated fixes within infosec SLA requirements
• Develop playbooks to guide all skill levels for incident response
• Monitor and manage on-premise and cloud infrastructure using IaC
• Rotate in an on-call environment actioning or escalating alerts after-hours
• Perform break/fix activities on hardware and software

What You’ll Need To Succeed
We’re looking for someone who:

• Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

• Terraform, PowerShell and Python scripting experience
• Strong working knowledge of:
• 5+ years automation or devops experience
• REST API's
• Certificates, Ciphers, TLS encryption
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the areas of Information Science, Computer Science, or related disciplines
• 2+ years security engineering experience
• Ability to adhere to change management policies
• Azure and GCP public cloud environments
