System Analyst - Data And Business Intelligence Developer

Reporting to the Group Leader, Applications & Information, the System Analyst – Data and Business Intelligence Developer will act as a data and Business Intelligence developer and work with application stakeholders to ingest, transform, store clean and enrich data, for processing and visualization. Further to this, the role would work with stakeholders to develop initial Business Intelligence and Analytics visualizations and analysis capabilities. This is a unionized position.

Responsibilities

• Interact with BI Users and structure data for consumption
• Improve the data availability and presentation by acting as a liaison between multiple application owners and various Teck digital Services groups
• Find and troubleshoot application issues
• Collect, blend, and transform data using ETL tools, database management system tools, and code development, such as SQL, Python, and/or C
• Incorporate security requirements into design
• Implement data models and structure data in ready-for BI consumption formats
• Perform unit and integration testing
• Adhere to organizational control policies throughout design, development, and testing
• Perform aggregation on data across various warehousing models, such as OLAP cubes and star schemas for Business Intelligence purposes
• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of using RESTAPI’s., SQL scripting and Python for integrations and data transformations
• Ability to understand business drivers and challenges faced by clients
• Personable and interacts in a cordial manner, effective results-driven team, and cross-team player
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent
• Experience using PySpark to process large datasets and perform complex calculations is desirable
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Data Warehouse
• Experience with Reporting and Business Intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI, QlikSense, SSRS, SSIS and Excel
• Minimum three years’ experience data analysis and preparation, including considerable experience with very large data sets of unstructured data
• Experience in self service reports and visual dashboard development and deployment
• Effective verbal communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts to business users
• Strong critical thinker with an aptitude for problem solving
• Ability to proficiently deal with multiple competing priorities
• Experience in data modeling for Analytics
