■ STATISTICAL DATA ANALYST. SAFE MEDICAL CARE RESERACH

CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA

The Safe Medical Care Research (SMC-R) department performs acquisition, abstraction, and capture of clinically oriented medical legal data. The department analyzes and interprets the data to generate knowledge that supports the activities of Safe Medical Care. The department also responds to internal and external requests for data analysis. The department studies historical data to identify individual provider, team and system factors associated with medico-legal risk, researches trends, and evaluates the performance and impact of education programs. The department synthesizes evidence and disseminates its research findings by authoring reports, risk management and educational materials in collaboration with CMPA’s physician advisors, general counsel, and the Communications department.

Position Overview

The Data Analyst contributes the CMPA’s core mission of improving the safety of medical care by conducting data extraction, analysis and interpretation using CMPA’s medico-legal data and other relevant and necessary data sources. As a member of a multidisciplinary research team, the Data Analyst works closely with team members in the creation of SMC-R knowledge products to proactively share CMPA data, disseminate research findings, and support education and learning activities of Safe Medical Care.

As an integral member of the SMC-R team, the Data Analyst works collaboratively with different Research team members, providing analytical support by extracting and analyzing CMPA medico-legal data and other data sources to identify areas of medico-legal risks. The Data Analyst participates in departmental quality assurance and knowledge sharing activities to improve the overall quality of research data and products.

POSITION ACTIVITIES

• Assesses data quality, write SAS programs to extracts data, contributes to data analysis and report writing.
• Provide data extraction and analytical support to SMC-R research agenda
• Interacts with internal and external stakeholders to present and explain research findings, and to promotes understanding of CMPA data and research.
• Contributes to ongoing quality assurance of medico-legal data and knowledge products of Safe Medical Care Research
• Works with Medical Analyst Researchers and other members of the SMC-R team to support analytical studies in response to internal and external information requests. Gathers requirements, develops content and produces reports for a wide range of audiences.

Education And Experience

• Knowledge of administrative health care data.
• Experience with DAD, NACRS and OHIP data a strong asset.
• Bachelors Degree (4 years) in statistics, economics, epidemiology, or other related field. Post graduate degree an asset.
• A minimum of 4 to 6 years relevant experience in conducting research projects including the design, execution, analysis, interpretation and reporting of findings

POSTING DETAILS

• Salary range: $81,600 to $94,600 – this role is classified as level 8
• Location: Hybrid – Primary Remote Job. You can work from a home-based office the majority of time, with regular on-site presence at the CMPA office (up to 1-2 days per week). If you prefer to work in an office setting as your primary workspace, you can choose to work out of the CMPA’s office located in Ottawa, Ontario near the beautiful Dow’s Lake.
