Sr. Designer / Design Lead

Our client, a local manufacturer of Retail Display and Fixture Solutions, is currently seeking a Sr. Designer / Design Lead to join their team immediately on a permanent full-time basis.
You will be joining a team of industry experts who by combing individual creativity and innovation, create effective displays and fixtures that create successful branding for their clients. This position will be working out of their office in Concord, Ontario.
Role And Responsibilities

• Leading the design process from ideation to implementation, working either independently or collectively with the rest of the design team
• Leading and collaborating with team members in developing the best designs and solutions to ensure the design intent is maintained and evaluate the feasibility of concepts by considering practicality, budget, and production cost/methods
• Creating, leading, and guiding design of store fixtures and retail displays, including concepts, presentation material, graphics, and related elements.
• Managing, leading, and mentoring a small team of designers on creative designs, including concepts, prototypes, samples, and preproduction materials according to provided specifications and project requirements.
• Conceptualize and create design solutions to serve the needs of existing clients, new business relationships and RFP submissions.
• Create 3D and 2D renderings and presentation graphics
• Work alongside the engineering, sales, and production teams throughout the project cycle to develop concept drawings into manufacturable designs.
• Review conceptual designs and inform the build process through sketches, detailing, and CAD drawings.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of sheet metal, board structure, plastic part, and millwork design
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• 2+ years of design leadership experience is preferred
• College diploma or University degree in Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, or equivalent
• Strong technical understanding of various manufacturing processes and the ability to read and interpret documents such as design briefs, safety rules, and procedure manuals
• Well organized with excellent time management skills to complete tasks within tight deadlines
• Strong conceptual thinking, including the ability to present ideas and concepts to others
• 5-8 years of Retail/ Store Fixture Design experience or applicable experience is preferred
• Strong proficiency in Solidworks, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign), Keyshot
• Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in and lead a team of creative professionals
