Sr. Instrumentation Designer Jobs

Our client, an EPCM consulting firm to the Energy, Heavy Industry, and Infrastructure sectors, is currently seeking a Sr. Instrumentation Designer to join their team immediately on a permanent full-time basis.
You will be joining a dedicated team whose mission is to provide their clients with effective, innovative, and flexible solutions using their creative thinking and exceptional levels of service. This position will be working out of their office in Burlington, Ontario.
Role And Responsibilities

• Develop control strategies and control narratives; provide P&ID assistance to Process Group
• Creates drawings based on sketches, templates or previous designs.
• Other duties as assigned
• Check packages for design fitness, dimensional accuracy, and constructability
• Backdrafts redlines from check prints and markups as directed by the Electrical Engineer/Technologist
• Apply engineering concepts to assist in establishing design criteria for assigned projects
• Prepare instrument and control system layout drawings, installation drawings, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, specification sheets, panel layout, instrument index, cause & effect matrices, etc.
• Specify instruments and final control devices
• Support independent design reviews, model reviews, and hazards and operability evaluations
• Working knowledge and good understanding of Electrical Code and Standards such OESC, CEC, CSA and IEEE.
• Performs routine material take offs (MTO)
• Ensure that work is checked in accordance with client and company standards and procedures
• Prepare network diagrams and PLC/DCS gateway interface lists
• Design automation systems including PLC, DCS and communication networks
• Monitor compliance with engineering and drafting standards to proactively ensure the quality and accuracy of technical deliverables
• Perform site visits to verify design details
• Design and develop instrumentation and control systems

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office is a must
• Work effectively independently and as a team member
• Control system programming is a plus
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
• Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design/Drafting or related fields
• Expert in CSA electrical code
• Expert in instrument specifying, sizing and selection.
• EPCM environment experience and hands on design drawings creation
• Experience with construction site, ability to perform site inspection and work closely with contractor during constructions.
• Certification in CAD or Drafting would be a strong asset
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skill
• Expert in AutoCAD (version 2014 or higher); Experience with Plant 3D is preferred
• 7-12 years relevant electrical CAD experience
• Expert in Control system and field wiring
• Commitment and enthusiasm for learning
