Technologist / Specialist
NETE Weir Marine Engineering (WME)
Halifax, LaSalle, Lévis or Victoria
On-Site – Hybrid
Purpose of Role:
Our mission is ‘To protect the Best Interests of the Navy”.
We are looking for a qualified candidate to work within the integrated Mechanical Engineering Systems and Equipment team. The position can be based in Halifax, LaSalle, Lévis or Victoria . Eligible to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which requires Canadian citizenship and 10 years of residence in Canada (Mandatory)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
  • Management and maintenance of any developed information and records within the RCN and NETE systems of record
  • Review of technical documentation for quality improvement initiatives;
  • Provision of on-site technical support
  • Assessment is conducted based on a survey of the system’s status from the perspective of Physical State, Testing, Configuration, Regulation, Certification, and Preventive and Corrective Maintenance
  • Assisting with the development and review of solutions to technical problems including engineering change proposals; and
  • Assessment and reporting of a system’s material state at all points throughout a ship’s operational cycle including during Maintenance prior to ship deployments, Docking Work Periods and New Construction
  • Developing good working relationship within the broader stakeholder organizations to ensure effective coordination of support activities
  • Developing and maintaining process and planning associated with NETE’s support of the MSV Program
  • Providing subject matter expertise for designated systems and equipment during design, installation/implementation, operation, and maintenance activities including:
  • Support of technical investigations and engineering studies;
  • Optimization of maintenance documentation and schedules;
Job Knowledge/Education:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the O365 environment
  • Well-developed technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with maintenance procedures and documentation
  • Recognized technologist certification or certified to the RQ-PO1, QL-6 or QL-7 level of military technical training
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, able to meet project deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Able to manage a mix of office and shipboard/dockyard work: shipboard work includes climbing ladders in/out of machinery spaces in order to access equipment during shipboard physical surveys and inspections
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong working knowledge in the maintenance, operation, design and/or troubleshooting of a wide range of marine systems
  • Previous DRMIS/SAP experience
  • Familiarity with certification requirements including, but not limited to, Classification Societies, SOLAS/IMO, IEEE, CSA, Naval Ship Code, and DND regulations is an asset
  • Previous experience working within the Royal Canadian Navy or Canadian Coast Guard
