Job Description

Project Technologist

The Scotia Investments Family of Companies is a diverse organization focused on manufacturing, energy, innovative health, and environmental sectors with operations in six provinces. The operating companies include Maritime Paper Products Limited, CKF Inc., Minas Energy, Crown Fibre Tube, Scotia Recycling and BioMedica Diagnostics.


The Scotia Investments Engineering Department supports the operating companies with capital project management, technical support, and process development in the areas of project management and preventative maintenance.


We are currently seeking a Project Technologist to join our high-performing team. As a member of the Scotia Investments Engineering Department, you will support the strategic growth agenda of the organization through project execution and developing a long-term capital program to support the needs of the businesses.


Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Execution on long-term capital plans to support the business goals of the operating companies and Scotia Investments.
  • Work closely with internal capital project and operating teams within the various operating companies
  • Site configuration management for facilities and infrastructure across the Scotia Investments Family of Companies.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the companies with decisions related to infrastructure, facilities, and systems.
  • Project concept development using drafting software and 3D visual software.
  • Support of capital projects being executed by Scotia Investments Engineering Department with site inspections, performance monitoring and technical investigations.
  • Support the development of project management, and safety programs to support the successful execution of capital projects.
  • Drawing management for the Scotia Investments Engineering Department.
  • Execution of capital projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, and budget development. Oversite of external consultants, site construction, progress reporting and stakeholder engagement.


The Successful Candidate Will Possess the Following Qualifications:

  • A proven problem solver who can bring innovative solutions to complex technical projects.
  • Extensive experience with 2-D and 3-D drafting software; AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D.
  • Holding a Certified Engineering Technologist designation is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including communications, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of engineering process standards would be considered an asset.
  • Diploma in Engineering or Architectural Technology
  • One to four years of experience working in an industrial or heavy civil setting.


Working Conditions:

  • Travel: There may be times when the Project Technologist is required to travel to one of the Scotia Investments Family of Companies locations. A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Physical Requirements: This position requires you to be onsite in our manufacturing facilities and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Hours of Work: Occasional evening/weekend work will be required.
