About Cognizant’s Digital Engineering Practice

At Cognizant Digital Engineering, a small cross functional team comprised of a Product Manager, an Architect, Full-Stack Developers, UI/UX designers and Big Data analysts builds higher quality software faster siloed individuals working independently. Small, nimble engineering teams generate collective empathy and comradery, thus increasing their ability to anticipate unforeseen development scope changes and maintain high quality deliverables. Across our US Studio system or within client development sites, our Digital Engineering teams ideate and develop innovative cloud-based solutions following a Lean-Agile process with DevOps culture. Working in Cognizant Digital Engineering provides DevOps engineers consistent opportunities to push digital boundaries while growing their exposure to transformational technologies.

The Role

Cognizant is looking for a Senior UX Designer with extensive experience in developing customized product for our clients. Cognizant needs a motivated individual to challenge the status quo and provide thought leadership/best practices to enhance our current services and technologies.

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and mentor other UI/UX designers in the team.
• Create and deliver high quality visual design outcomes like UI layouts, components and supporting documentation
• Create wireframes, user interface design and prototypes using modern design tools.
• Collaborate with Design leads to guide future development and direction of product's visual language.
• Engage with clients to proactively identify areas of improving user experience.
• Work closely in a multi-disciplinary team of product designers, researchers
• Participate in user research and partner with internal researchers on usability testing, research and customer centric principles.
• Collaborate with other user experience designers and researchers offering advice and constructive feedback on design/usability review.
• Identify opportunities to improve visual design based on visual design principles and informed by analytics, insights and customer data.

Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding to usability and user-centered design principles/methods.
• Ability to be a UX advocate and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience of creating and driving visual design strategy, deign practices and principles.
• Hands on experience as Sr UI Designer / Lead; 8-12 years of experience
• Experience with modern design tools - Figma, Sketch, Invision or equivalent
• Experience with modern design tools - Figma, Sketch, Invision or equivalent.
• Experience of creating and driving visual design strategy, deign practices and principles.
• Effective communication of visual design solutions across roles and levels
• In depth experience as designer for enterprise software, responsive web apps, and defining in-house style guides and documenting standards.
• Hands on experience as Sr UI Designer / Lead; 5-8 years of experience
