Job Description
VERB is a digital marketing agency with our head office located in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. Our global clients offer the opportunity to work and collaborate with some of the world’s biggest destinations, resorts, and travel brands—and with our employee travel credit, it’s easy to experience them for yourself. We take a balanced approach to work/life and have fun at the office– or wherever we happen to be working. We are passionate about exceeding expectations and we thrive on jobs other agencies might find too big, or too difficult, or too fast.
Sound good? Great, here’s who we’re looking for…
VERB is looking for a motivated UX Designer to join our Creative team!
UX Designers at VERB conduct research and competitive analysis, design information architectures, create wireframes and prototypes, and conduct user research studies. You are part marketer, part designer, and part project manager. You thrive on planning your own work against deadlines and delivering UX design work with minimal oversight. You have a keen eye for detail and a passion for critical thinking and innovation. But, above all, you are client-centric and know how to interpret insights and integrate them with our client’s vision.
What You Will Do
  • Build information architectures and make recommendations to meet client objectives
  • Identify and implement opportunities to refine the UX process
  • Join client calls and speak to your findings and recommendations clearly and confidently
  • Apply your knowledge in tourism and travel industry trends, competitive activity and e-commerce best practices, and share those insights with colleagues to help drive internal standards and to build the best possible user experience for our clients
  • Prepare UX documentation (i.e., site architecture, wireframes, heat mapping audits, use cases, task flows, etc.) to be used by other members of the team
  • Document findings and make a case for recommendations to stakeholders
  • Build wireframes and digital prototypes, and iterate on designs using feedback from internal and external stakeholders
  • Leverage user and consumer insights, analytics, best practices and competitor analysis to help guide project decisions
  • Conduct audits leveraging analytics and user data to make informed recommendations about product enhancements
  • Connect business goals to user needs with sketching, concept creation, wireframes, defining user flows and the production of site maps with prototyping
  • Work with a team of designers, developers, writers and producers to understand project requirements and create concepts that help define the best possible user experience, while supporting clients’ business objectives
Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in Google Analytics, PageSense, Clarity, Slickplan, or equivalent tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS responsive design
  • Proficiency with information architecture, design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in the role of UX Designer, Experience Architect, Information Architect or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in Graphic Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, User Research or equivalent experience
  • Able to confidently speak and present complex findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • UI design skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Highly organized with the ability to function in a fast-paced business environment
  • Must be flexible, collaborative, and highly motivated
  • Knowledge of web accessibility principles and W3C guidelines and responsive web design
  • Strong understanding of how to leverage data to make informed decisions
  • The following items would be considered an asset:
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve complex problems, using analysis, creative thinking, and input from others to improve processes, and develop effective client-centric strategies
Our benefits are anything but basic, with vacation time available on day one (not to mention an extra bonus week during the holidays), an annual travel credit (for non-work related travel), and free office snacks and drinks to keep you energized when you’re around.
Benefits
In addition, we offer the following and are consistently looking for new ways to enhance the benefits we offer to our team
  • Learning and development opportunities with a multitude of resources
  • Top up for Parental/Pregnancy leave
  • A healthy living account
  • Recreational sports teams
  • Company matching RRSP program
  • Transit and fitness discounts
  • Remote and flexible work arrangements
  • 100% premium share option for Group Health Insurance (medical, dental, vision), with a health spending account to top up your claims
