We are looking for a Design and Pursuits Lead to join our Technology Pre-Construction Team! The focus of this role is to perform as a lead for the Technology business group within an integrated multi-disciplinary team to manage the Pursuit and Design Development processes for all associated Technology scopes for assigned projects. This is a team-oriented effort working with multi discipline groups in both estimation and operations, managing the deliverables schedule, and meeting key deadlines. If this excites you? As a Technology Pre-Construction Lead you will be asked to do the following:

• Work with manufacturers and service providers to obtain quotations to meet customer technical and performance specifications.
• Contribute to the Business Development of Technology related opportunities for Plan Group. This includes attending seminars, trade shows and client sponsored events.
• Work with Contractors, Consultants and Sub-Contractors to maintain the schedule and budget of Technology/IMIT scopes in construction projects through analysis of design solutions.
• Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather information, clarify specifications, wording, etc. and in meetings and presentations with clients and partners.
• In coordination with Technical Engineers, review and interpret all tendered Technical Specifications; including System Performance Specifications, Drawings and Room Data Sheets.
• Work within an integrated multi-discipline group in both estimating and operations to ensure efficiencies are realized to offer the best value in pricing and maximum profit.
• Identify partnerships and efficiencies within the Pursuits process to support Plan Group as the vendor of choice.
• Manage a team Technical Engineers and Estimators to complete the overall estimating process in order to develop competitive Technical Design and Project Cost Estimates.
• Responsible for risk management for all Technology systems during pursuit and design development stages. Define, identify and track potential risks within the project; monitor and manage identified risks through regular reporting.
• Develop procedures and working practices for effective communication and increased efficiency in Pursuit, Design Development, Budgeting/Estimation and Risk Analysis.
• Perform as the overall Lead for all Pursuit and Design Development activities related to the Technology (ICAT) Scope of Work on assigned Projects including large construction and Alternate Financing & Procurement projects.
• Participate in the validation of Pursuit and Design Development activities during the Pursuits, Design Development, Construction and Commissioning phases of each project.
• Facilitate and lead User Group Meetings and Design Workshops with Clients, Contractors, and Sub-Consultants for all related Technology Systems in order to design and develop technology solutions that meet the contractual obligations of each project.
• Work with design teams to ensure the design not only matches the specification, but is also focused on an efficient design with cost control at the forefront.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in the construction industry is considered very beneficial.
• Experience in Public Private Partnerships (P3) and Alternate Financing Procurement Projects considered a key asset.
• Experience and knowledge of building operating systems such as Building Automation Systems and Facility Security (CCTV, Access Control, Duress) considered an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience; at least one managing large scale commercial and institutional projects.
• Working knowledge of various Technology Systems and Communications Infrastructure such as Structured Cabling, Data Networks, Wireless Networking, Tracking Systems (RTLS), Audio Visual Systems, Nurse Call, Public Address, Voice/Telephony Communications and Distributed Antenna Systems.
• Experience and knowledge in project budget development and financial management.
• You have a minimum of 8 years’ technology consulting and/or Technology/IMIT construction industry experience.
• Ability to travel within Canada and possibly abroad considered an asset.
• Understanding of Smart Building Technologies including System Integration and Interoperability is considered a very valuable asset.
