Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Software Support Engineer, you will join a team of talented developers responsible for providing world-class software to large financial institutions that use IBM's Safer Payments to prevent fraudulent transactions.

This Software Support Engineer role will be a hybrid position utilizing your software development skills to learn and contribute to the product engineering as well as act in a customer advocate role. As a customer advocate, you will work directly with clients to understand their project goals and be the liaison to our development team. You will be responsible to assist with diagnosing and analyzing debug data to troubleshoot customer issues as well as contribute to the design and implement solutions to resolve the reported problems.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers as needed to listen and confidently assist with resolving their issues, which can be urgent at times when financial transactions are not processing.
• Analyze and debug, logs and other artifacts to review the forensics of the situation, looking for clues to pinpoint the failure which will also lead to solution design and implementation.
• Lead product release tasks as required for major deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Work with clients and liaison with our product engineering team.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Proficient in Linux
• Verbal and Written communications
• Scripting
• High attention to detail and a strong desire to continually improve
• Object Oriented programming (C++/Java) and knowledge in JavaScript or Python
• Excellent debugging skills

Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise

• Knowledge of cloud environments
• C/C++
• Knowledge of container orchestrations (OpenShift, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge in revision control, issue tracking, and agile development
