The Role
You love creating clean code; you think strategically but focus on the details that matter, and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to win as a team. You are passionate about delivering successful products to market by ensuring a sound user experience and solving problems with intuitive solutions your users will love!
As a Software Development Team Lead, you will help lead the effort to design and deliver features on both the frontend React UI and backend services for our health service directory serving all of Ontario. We take a cross-functional and collaborative approach to product development so you will need to establish collaborative relationships with the entire development team to deliver product iterations in an efficient, effective and timely manner. This role involves learning quickly, communicating effectively, and solving complex problems on a daily basis.
You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Design and build beautiful frontend react components for our Health Service Directory
• Work on all levels of the code base while applying your creativity and pragmatism
• Face exciting, out of the box challenges on a daily basis
• Embrace the DevOps movement by deploying, monitoring, and scaling services on modern cloud infrastructure
• Design and build platform APIs and messaging systems for our data integrations
• Build something that dramatically improves patient care in Canada by modernizing how hospitals, clinics, and health care services integrate with each other
• Working closely with our product and design teams to define feature specifications

What You Will Bring

• Experience building and containerizing services using Docker an asset
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• Experience working with HL7 V2 and/or FHIR an asset
• Experience deploying, monitoring, and scaling services on Kubernetes an asset
• Experience working with Kafka or equivalent messaging architecture an asset
• Minimum of 4+ years’ experience using JS Framework like React, Angular, Vue
• Minimum of 6+ years’ experience developing applications using an OOP language like Java, Kotlin, or Ruby
• Experience with API design and REST an asset
• Minimum of 4+ years’ relational database experience (including data modeling)
• Experience integrating, transforming, and transferring data between external systems an asset
• Experience with the TDD process, unit testing, and paired programming
• Experience working with Spring Boot application framework an asset
