About this role

The IT Lead is there to support ToursByLocals team members on all aspects of IT. You will need to ensure the team, both in office and remote, can work efficiently and have no issues of a technical nature. For this role, we are looking for someone who loves to work in the ‘people’ side of IT - someone who can help our team on anything and everything IT, solve problems, and always looking for opportunities to build better and more efficient IT processes for the future.

Please note: This role will require you to work from the Vancouver office most days. While there is a degree of flexibility in this role, it is not a fully remote position.

What will you do?

• Maintain documentation of IT systems, processes, and configurations, including hardware and software inventory, licenses, and user accounts, including inventory documentation
• Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices that align with industry standards and ensure the security and integrity of company data and systems
• Respond to staff requests for help with their computer, phones and other equipment
• Monitor office systems to ensure they are working properly (wifi, phones, email, printers, slack accounts, etc)
• Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to evaluate and select appropriate technology solutions, negotiate contracts, and ensure service level agreements are met
• Order and configure equipment needed by the team (Macintosh laptop, large monitor, phone, headset etc.)
• Stay updated with the latest security threats and ensure the implementation of robust security measures to protect company data, networks, and systems. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
• Manage the ToursByLocals technical infrastructure, including networks, cloud services, and other IT resources
• Continuously evaluate our existing IT infrastructure and identify areas for improvement, recommending and implementing innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, security, and productivity
• Train staff in new and existing hardware and software systems (e.g. Slack, Google, and various ToursByLocals internal systems)
• Set up and manage backups for staff and company hardware (usually via WiFi based backup drive)

What experience do you need?

• Knowledge of Apple products, Google Workspace, Slack, SQL query, backup systems, JAMF, VOIP phone system, networks and WiFi setup and maintenance
• Autonomy and a self starter - able to project manage their work and complete tasks without oversight
• At least 3 years of experience performing similar tasks in companies operating internationally
• Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
• Extensive training or experience in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field (professional certifications are a plus)
• Ability to prioritize and manage tasks - you will need to juggle competing priorities in this role
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills - the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
