Job Description
On behalf of our client in Burnaby, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Project Portfolio Analyst with our client for a 6 month contract opportunity.


Role Description: Our Client is looking for an Project Portfolio Analyst to support the newly implemented Project Management Office (PMO). The role will support a portfolio of IT projects by maintaining the project reporting framework and processes, facilitating resource management activities on projects, and developing variance reports relating to project progress and financial burn rates. The role will be accountable to the Head of the PMO.


Responsibilities


  • Coordinate, collect, and analyze project information pertaining to scope, budget, deliverables, risks, issues, decisions, benefits realization, and return on investment opportunities.
  • Support the continuous improvement of portfolio performance monitoring and reporting and facilitate the adoption of industry best practices.
  • Support the establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs) as well as a measurement framework for the IT project portfolio.
  • Create regular variance reports to help track the progress of projects at the portfolio level.
  • Facilitate the project portfolio intake process. Collaborate with Project Managers and Project
  • Coordinators to ensure the IT Project Management Framework is adhered to for all projects within the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Coordinators and other IMT management team members to ensure each project has the necessary resources.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to support overall portfolio performance measurement, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Maintain and improve IT Project Portfolio Management methodologies and processes.
  • Administer technology that supports Project Portfolio Management.
  • Analyze project portfolio workload and resource data. Report portfolio risks, issues, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Establish and maintain the Project Portfolio reporting framework procedures and the defined reports and dashboards.


Requirements


  • Experience documenting procedures and processes.
  • Experience using project management and project scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of and experience in project management principles and processes including the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Proficient with MS Excel
  • Knowledge of and experience in Project Portfolio Management methodologies.
  • Experience in presenting to small and medium size groups and communicating and educating staff on new concepts and processes.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment, evaluate priorities, and modify work plans as necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Degree or diploma in business administration, IT, or a related field.
  • Experience working in the public sector.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience: The Project Portfolio Analyst will have experience in helping to administer and control the processes and standards of a PMO.
  • Knowledge of resource management.
  • Experience creating reports, charts, and graphs for executive management.
