Pay range: $64,973 To $77,589 Annually SFU Department Descr: Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue

Position Grade: 8

# of openings: 1

Biweekly Hours: 72

Who We Are

The Centre for Dialogue's Office of Knowledge and Practice works to build capacity and create systemic change in the fields of dialogue and participatory democracy. We support the Centre for Dialogue's internal staff with strategic guidance on the design and delivery of public engagement initiatives addressing complex issues, as well as by organizing ongoing professional development programming. Additionally, we help to advance the field of participatory democracy by engaging in knowledge exchange with an international field of practitioners, conducting innovative research and developing new knowledge products. We are particularly passionate about advancing equitable, decolonizing and relationship-based practices in dialogue and deliberation.

About The Role

The Senior Analyst, Knowledge and Practice supports the Centre for Dialogue to document, exchange and implement knowledge and methods in dialogue and public engagement. The Analyst helps to research, develop resources, and provide advise on engagement methodologies and skillsets for Centre-led engagement initiatives, including culturally appropriate protocols for intercultural engagement and engagement between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. The Analyst also helps to coordinate internal and external programming; steward internal knowledge management systems; facilitate dialogue and learning initiatives; and collaborate with government, engagement practitioners and other stakeholders to exchange good practices and build capacity within the field. In particular, over the next year the Analyst will support participatory research and knowledge mobilization for the Centre's "Renovate the Public Hearing" and "Strengthening Canadian Democracy" initiatives.

You are a strong communicator, with excellent writing and presentation skills, and able to translate knowledge from research to practice and across multiple sectors and contexts. You have experience in community engagement, with particular knowledge of inter-cultural relations and the development of engagement tools and methodologies. You share our commitment to equity, dialogue and democratic practices, and are able to maintain principled impartiality when holding space for community-led solutions. You like to work in a collaborative and dynamic team environment. Basic skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and/or proficiency in languages other than English would be additional assets.

  • Experience developing tools, methods and knowledge products on dialogue and engagement.
