Senior Technical Specialist (Network & Security Operations and Services)

Hybrid: Travel across GTA (Brampton, Sauga, Toronto + office presence)

Full Time Permanent

Reporting to the Manager/Team Lead, Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) Network & Security Operations and Services; this position is primarily responsible for completing multiple business requests for new and existing projects, services and network/security infrastructure along with support of any implementations and/or incidents.

These implementations are normally medium to high in complexity and are often part of a larger program. They involve, planning, configuring, implementing and supporting various network and security devices including, but not limited to Cisco IOS, NEXUS, ACI, Meraki (SDWAN), WiFi (Cisco, Extreme, Juniper), InfoBlox DDI, Application Delivery (LTM, GTM, ASM, APM, vCMP), Palo Alto NGFW, OKTA, Entrust, Solarwinds, and DDOS solutions. Understanding of UC (Unified Communications), Automation toolsets and IaC (infrastructure as Code) are a benefit.

There is significant interaction required with our project managers who must be kept up to date on the status of our deliverables. As part of that responsibility, updating of documentation, management tools, and asset tracking is critical.

In addition, this position will also assist with guiding our junior staff with their projects as well as developing and/or streamlining the processes and procedures that we use on a day-to-day basis.

The services provided by this team must be delivered in a reliable, secured, timely and consistent manner as they are often a key component in larger initiatives that have tight timelines.

Qualifications

• Perform MACD’s for various network/security changes and initiatives.
• Communicate project status and provide timely escalation of issues to ensure meeting project objectives.
• Participate in Lifecycle Management Activities. Patch and Upgrade Management.
• Act as a resource that evolves into an SME in the exchange of technical information with project teams, the business and outside vendors.
• Contribute and or lead Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions with the team.
• Provide expertise and advice in the areas of analysis, implementation, testing and/or problem resolution.
• Ensure timely notification and escalation of possible issues/problems, options and recommendations for prompt resolution.
• Ensure migrations and changes are executed without any service interruptions.
• Interact with clients to provide quality service/solutions consistent with objectives and client requirements.
• Responding to and resolving network access issues related to network security infrastructure, security policy, or remote access.
• Work effectively as a team, supporting other members of the team in achieving project/business objectives and providing client services
• Managing network and security infrastructure and implementing technical security policies and configurations.
• Monitor the capacity of the environment by using meaningful metrics and tools.
• Coach/educate others within the team and other departments.
• Ensure effective change and problem management discipline is used.
• Provide technical expertise and counsel to internal client by acting as a reference on technology, security, trends and processes related to own area.
• Improving the adaptation and capabilities of existing and incoming security technologies by researching and implementing best practices and latest features as part of lifecycle management
• Keep current with industry and/or business trends.
• Provide expertise in automation and orchestration of network deliverables.
• Effectively leverage cloud and hybrid cloud technologies and platforms
• Participate in Incident and Incident remediation as part of a 24x7 On-Call rotation which includes travel to campuses, distribution centers and data centers when required.
• Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in infrastructure, security, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective and efficient solution development/delivery.
• Actively represent the group at meetings, change management TAB/CAB and on projects
• Maintaining accurate documentation

• Experience working with auditors and resolving audit findings
• Thorough understanding of OSI layers.
• Minimum 3-5 years working with BGP, OSPF routing protocols
• Minimum 3-5 years working with Multicast
• Minimum 3-5 years working with enterprise expertise level of LAN/WAN technologies.
• Minimum 1-3 years working with Automation
• Experience with PCI, CIS and DISA compliancy
• Experience with Infoblox DDI
• Minimum 1-3 years working with Cisco Spine and Leaf and Cisco ACI
• Minimum 3-5 years of Hands-on experience with WIFI (Extreme, Cisco)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in business terms.
• Minimum 1-3 years working with SD-WAN
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent Customer Service Skills
• Excellent use of Office Applications; Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams
• Minimum 3-5 years working with MPLS
• Experience with SolarWinds, Wireshark, Rapid 7, Mobile Eye, Thousand Eyes, TCP Dump support tools for problem determination and troubleshooting
• Minimum 3-5 years of Hands-on experience with Cisco Platforms
• Minimum 3-5 years working with DNS, DHCP, IPAM
• Ability to create, update documentation and diagrams, leveraging Visio
• Working knowledge of Linux, BASH, SHELL Python scripting/coding
• Minimum 3-5 years working with Security, Next-Gen Firewalls, WAF, AAA, VPN/Remote-Access, MFA and micro-segmentation technologies.
• Strong knowledge of SSL and SSL protocols.
• Able to collaborate with others, share expertise, and drive towards organizing the knowledge.
• Minimum 3-5 years working with Application Delivery, Load Balancing utilizing F5 product line
• Strong and effective interpersonal skills
• Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in a related field or related experience
• Strong team player, motivated self-starter and the ability to work autonomously to deliver on commitments.

The Following Certifications/knowledge Would Be An Asset

• Ansible Scripting, Terraform, Understanding of API’s and their usage
• CWNP, CCNP, CCIE or equivalent experience
