Senior Analyst, Development & Investments
On behalf of our Client, we are seeking a Senior Analyst to join their team. The Senior Analyst will support the team in developing and implementing the organization’s strategy for their development projects, with high focus on instutional-grade financial analysis. In addition, this role will work collaboratively across the organization to support the execution of projects, to assist in implementing delegated investment strategies, and other strategic project and initiatives.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player, with a passion for real estate development and city building, and a desire to help build a growing company. In addition, they will be able to work in a dynamic environment and work directly with the executive team. The compensation range is $80,000 – $110,000 depending on level of industry experience and exposure, plus a discretionary bonus. Our client is an advocate for diversity and recognizes the importance of leadership engagement within its framework.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly and year end financial reporting and analysis for ongoing portfolio of projects
- Support team with project updates, analysis and forecasting and respond to management and partner inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Participate in the underwriting and due diligence process including the generation of financial pro forma, the review and analysis of market and legal documents, and preparing investment memos and reports for management decision making
- Promote continuous improvements in processes and reporting, proactively identifying opportunities for enhancements
- Continuously research and report on market data, as required
- Participate in the annual business strategy and forecasting process
- Support the development team in both research and advancement of various initiatives associated to their developments
- Conduct financial, scenario, and sensitivity analysis to inform decision making and evaluate investment options (land acquisitions, financing, partnership structuring, etc.)
- Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations to support the project and associated investment considerations with management, lenders and partners
- Underwrite and value development land and create financial models for execution of development projects, including scenario and sensitivity analysis
Qualifications
- Demonstrates strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, and ability to foster effective working relationships internally across the organization and externally
- Proven self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proven ability to think logically and problem solve effectively
- Ability to create, update, and manage financial models as well as communicate findings clearly and concisely
- Ability to deliver in a high-performance culture operating under time-sensitive deadlines
- Superior proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and in particular Excel, with experience building / maintaining complex development proformas
- Strong financial analysis skills; ability to calculate, interpret, and understand real estate valuations
- Actively contribute to a positive and highly effective team culture
- 2-4 years in relevant work experience in real estate development analysis and/or investments
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure, dealing with changes and interruptions while maintaining strict deadlines
- Post-secondary education in real estate, commerce, finance, and/or economics preferred
- Collaborative attitude with the capacity and willingness to manage multiple tasks to respond to demanding deadlines
- Professional designation such as CPA or CFA is an asset
- Ability to adapt to change while remaining focused on strategic objectives
- Exceptional attention to detail
