The Position

We are looking for a team member that will deliver on various financial analysis and reporting requirements, both internally and externally for Slate Asset Management.

The role will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Finance for Slate Asset Management.

Responsibilities

• Reconciliation of repair and maintenance expenses and major capital project spending;
• Assist in the preparation of journal entries for property acquisitions and dispositions;
• Analysis of annual property operating budgets;
• Undertakes ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
• Assist with treasury and cash management including liquidity analysis for funding requirements;
• Analysis of property level operating statements including NOI, AR, AP, and property rent rolls;
• Full cycle accounting for investment and holdings entities including completion of bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivables and payables, invoicing, and HST and VAT remittances;
• Liaise with asset managers regarding property operations and tenant activity to ensure the accuracy of monthly operating and cash flow statements;
• Preparing supporting documentation and working papers for annual financial statement audit requests; and
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements;
• Prepare wire, EFT, ACH payments for corporate and property expenses;

Qualifications & Experience

• Real estate accounting experience preferred;
• Exposure to full disclosure financial reporting and consolidation (IFRS);
• Experience with Yardi reporting system and Wdesk preferred; and
• Minimum 1-3 years of industry or public accounting experience;
• CPA, CA designation or international equivalent, or actively pursuing CPA designation;
• Experience with HST and VAT fillings would be an asset.
