About The Role


The Senior Financial Analyst supports the Senior Manager in all financial areas regarding forecasting/budgeting, analytics, and reporting for the Canadian finance team. The Senior Financial Analyst will provide financial reporting, planning, and analysis to support omni-channel operating and functional areas at Sephora. The Senior Financial Analyst excels in establishing effective working relationships with business partners in Canada and the US and is responsible for presenting findings and recommendations to key stakeholders. The Senior Financial Analyst has a strong passion for quantitative analysis, working cross functionally, and establishing new and innovative ways to improve business processes and tools.


What You'll Do


  • For assigned P&L areas, own all key financial processes (budget, reforecasts, month-end close) with the objective to build a solid and compelling plan that meets expectations. Ensure ongoing forecasts incorporate trends and relevant information.
  • Acquire and maintain thorough understanding of the strategies, business issues, risks and profitability opportunities.
  • Manage continuously competing priorities while maintaining composure and the highest degree of professionalism.
  • Full ownership of technically complex P&L and financial statement areas, including understanding risks, reforecasting, managing profitability, long-term strategic planning, and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Partner with key stakeholders cross functionally and cross-border, to solve problems, ensure successful financial performance, challenge the status quo, and appropriately communicate risks.
  • Support the monthly close process including preparation of variance reports and analysis with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare analysis and reporting for different target audiences that include both financial and non-financial content, including recurring financial results, forecast presentations, and ad-hoc business case including recommendations.
  • Develop and implement improvements to business processes and tools.
  • Ownership of ad-hoc projects and analysis to support business decision making and mitigate risks.
  • Provide ad hoc support and analysis, inclusive of strategic findings and recommendations, to Finance and Operations organizations to drive decision making for the leadership team.


What You'll Bring


  • Experience with complex accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Strong prioritization skills; proven ability to be successful in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment.
  • Proactive, highly motived, innovative and analytical person who is not afraid to challenge the status quo.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization including non-finance personnel and the executive level.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related of related FP&A or financial reporting experience; Retail or CPG industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in critical thinking and decision making; understanding when to seek assistance/guidance.
  • Advanced expertise Excel and Financial Systems.
  • Proven experience in owning the full budget cycle, from establishing of targets/goals, to socialization to business partners, preferably in a Retail environment
  • Strong modelling skills and high degree of comfort with financial systems, preferably SAP Business Objects and Anaplan.
