Job Description
Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Regional Fleet Lead (full-time) to join our team in Surrey, BC.


This role will be working out of the Surrey office and supporting the Fleet Services team. The Regional Fleet Lead will be responsible for ensuring Forbes Bros Ltd. is meeting operations fleet requirements. Additionally, they will be accountable for implementing and enforcing equipment vehicle management best practices, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities


  • Assist in arranging logistics and managing cost of moving vehicles, between project locations and yards, as required by operations
  • Go to market on a regular basis to review existing vendor pricing and suitability
  • Provide monthly reports on progress and budget/cost analysis to Regional Manager
  • Conduct thorough diagnostic assessments to identify vehicle issues/condition and determine appropriate solutions for timely replacement, including type of vehicles, equipment etc. in constant effort to improve cost-efficiency
  • Track fleet usage and maintain accurate inventories of equipment
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Direct the maintenance team to undertake the timely repair and servicing of assets to minimize downtime

  • Work with operations and other departments to ensure that equipment requirements are met
  • Review major repairs, with Fleet Manager prior to proceeding to assess suitability based on vehicle repair history, age, utilization, and mileage
  • Maintain data and documentation in system asset acquisition, asset disposal, asset transfers and equipment files in alignment with provincial regulations
  • Collaborate with operations team to understand their project schedules/requirements and adjust fleet/personnel requirements
  • Manages vendor performance to contract requirements for the Fleet department
  • Source equipment and/or parts from new vendors when not available within the approved vendor list
  • Oversee and manage the schedules, day-to-day activities, and inspections for the mechanics in shop


What We Are Looking For


  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proven knowledge of Federal, and Provincial/State processes and regulations
  • Strong written, oral communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of Pre-Access D&A testing, presenting a valid Driver's License and an acceptable five (5) year drivers abstract
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanic trade qualification required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment leveraging excellence in time management
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in vehicle fleet management or related field with at least two (2) of those years in a Supervisory or Leadership role
  • Able and willing to travel to various project sites
  • Demonstrated knowledge of emerging fleet management technologies and best practices
