Responsibilities
Account Managers are responsible for overseeing all aspects of their client accounts, including, but not limited to the following:
- Oversee all functions of MailChimp email database for applicable client accounts, including list maintenance, campaign distribution and analytics.
- Coordinate media interviews, photo and video shoots, radio and television appearances and act as the on-site liaison between clients and the media.
- Monitor media coverage constantly, and send regular media tracking updates, social media mentions and progress reports to each of your clients and SMC team.
- Manage all requests for client information, assets, visits, interviews etc. in a timely and professional manner.
- Create and organize on-brand events for client restaurant launches, media previews and other initiatives including event logistics, guest lists and on-site support.
- Spearhead imaginative PR campaigns and influencer programs that will have a positive impact on clients’ businesses (and ultimately help them grow and succeed!).
- Build strong relationships with key media and influencers: host media at client events and venues as well as attend media tastings and press trips, both during and after office hours (including some weekends when necessary); conduct regular media outreach.
- Immerse yourself in each clients’ distinct brand and work closely with them to craft an authentic story that shares what makes them special; write compelling, personalized pitches, draft media materials and pitch targeted media and influencers.
- Additional duties as required.
- Develop overarching client PR and marketing strategies including creative briefs and project plans, and manage client scope and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
- Facilitate VIP and media reservation requests with clients.
- Be the day-to-day project manager for multiple accounts and liaise with clients in providing up-to-date information and insight into the status of current projects.
- Work in conjunction with SMC’s staff writer, compile all assets for, develop briefs of, and manage the distribution of, regular press releases to key media.
- Be an ambassador of our agency and our clients to amply brand awareness and shape our community by demonstrating sound industry knowledge and best practices.
- Play an active role in ensuring social media management for applicable client accounts have a consistent voice / presence by communicating regularly with SMC’s digital marketing team.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-4 year’s experience in a communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or related role.
- Hospitality and/or restaurant experience considered an asset.
- Established relationships with media and familiarity with the current media landscape in Canada.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an extreme attention to detail.
- Experience with MailChimp, WordPress / Squarespace and basic HTML considered an asset.
- Must have a passion for food and beverage and Vancouver’s exciting culinary scene.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships, collaborate with clients and internal cross-functional teams to drive deliverables to outcomes.
- Extremely strong project management and time management skills along with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience with media monitoring software such as Meltwater, as well as project management and time tracking tools considered an asset.
- Graphic design experience and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
