About the Role:

Global News is currently seeking a full-time Community Coordinator - Promotions & Public Relations to join the Eastern Canada Marketing team. This position is part of the Global News team which oversees all the marketing and community activities for Global News. This role will assist the Eastern Region Marketing and Community Supervisor, to coordinate marketing and community activities in the Eastern Canada Regions. The successful candidate will work in an extremely competitive region and join our award-winning team at Global News.

You will contribute by:

• Will work closely with the various cross-functional teams, news editorial, digital, social media, and Sales and integrated content team, on air talent, as well as with marketing and community teams across the country. To ensure consistent messaging across all promotional activities.
• With direction from the Eastern Region Marketing and Community Supervisor this role will organize and supervise all marketing activities and functions for our Global News brands.
• Responsible for the execution of promotional contests Global News, liaison with Corus legal team to establish rules and regulations, contest landing page and entry form(s), distribution of winner’s waiver and prizing.
• Assist Sales with any questions or pitches that involve community news elements or on-air talent.
• Itemize and help to manage Global News promotional merchandise and on location advertising for the eastern markets, ordering and shipping.
• Assist with planning promotional airtime scheduling, with the Corus On-Air Promotions Coordinators and with local news teams as well as schedule other owned assets.
• Coordinate campaign and community events, online/social media promotion, contests, and execution of all these elements.
• Provide reports on marketing and community activities when required.

Skills and Experience you will bring:

• Knowledge of the TV production and marketing creative process.
• Be proficient with Office 365, Google Docs, and SharePoint with the ability to learn other software, i.e., Bannister Lake, WordPress
• This position may involve various shifts including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Knowledge of video requirements for digital platforms, including the various social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.), is an asset.
• The ability to develop a good understanding of digital marketing trends and related metrics.
• Ability to work independently, accountable to the team and trustworthy.
• Solid understanding of the Global News brand and news audiences.
• Must also work well under pressure, with tight deadlines, possess a desire to be the best, have a positive can-do attitude.
• You are a professional team player with excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal. You must clearly communicate and work with talent, and news editorial team members, producers, editors, artists, project managers, management, and community/station partners.
• Ability to travel when required.
• TV or News promotion is an asset.
• Must be approachable, organized, fast to learn, multitasker, deadline oriented.
• Post-secondary education in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
