The Indigenous Design Studio includes Indigenous designers from diverse backgrounds leading co-creation teams with non-Indigenous professionals. The firm’s work is driven by a uniquely Canadian design ethos derived from research into place, diverse cultures, Indigenous world views, sustainability, natural materials, and the application of new technologies. Our public and private sector clients include Indigenous communities and organizations, educational institutions, regional and local governments, investment organizations, and development firms.
Role
We are seeking a Proposal Coordinator in our Toronto studio who is articulate in graphic and written language, and who is excited about joining our unique and evolving practice. We foresee long-term career growth opportunities for the right candidate to help shape our marketing and business development strategies. This role is for an individual who is interested in business development, loves collaboration, and believes in making positive change in the built environment. As a Proposal Coordinator, you will work closely with our senior team to coordinate, prepare, and submit proposals for a range of projects. The role will involve extensive coordination and collaboration with interdisciplinary design and engineering teams, and will require strong organizational and time management skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with general documentation needs, including creation of AODA-compliant documents and presentations
- Coordinate awards and professional certifications submissions
- Assist in maintenance of the firm’s project archive
- Assist with other business development and marketing activities within the firm
- Seek out proposal, awards, and PR opportunities
- Coordinate production and create evocative InDesign proposal documents for architecture, urban design, and landscape RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, etc.
- Prepare presentation materials for interviews
Preferred qualifications
- A drive to win projects that will shape a positive, inclusive and environmentally responsible future
- Knowledge of AODA document standards would be an asset
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for coordinating with large, multi-disciplinary project teams
- Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and familiarity with architecture and design terminology
- Creative and impactful graphic design and document layout skills
- Excellent organizational abilities in administering and prioritizing multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft 365, Asana
- A Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or the AEC field (architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, urban design, or planning)
- 1-3 years of experience within the AEC industry with exposure to interdisciplinary project teams
- Advanced knowledge of InDesign (paragraph styles, master pages, pagination, print) as well as experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
