Take a Hike Foundation is seeking a Program Manager with an interest in mental health, and a passion for the land, education, and supporting vulnerable youth and families, to become part of our Programs Team for our Interior Hub, supporting our West Kootenays, Merritt, and Okanagan programs.
Take a Hike Foundation is on a mission to empower vulnerable youth to unlock their full potential and achieve personal success. We move towards this mission by engaging vulnerable youth in a full-time program of intentional and continuous psychotherapy, learning on and from the land, adventure, academics, and community. We have set an ambitious goal of partnering with every school district in BC with the need, capacity, and commitment to equip vulnerable youth with the skills required to graduate high school, build healthy relationships, and navigate their own path to success.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Program Manager, Interior is accountable for providing leadership to all aspects of Take a Hike’s programming in our newly forming region. This position provides support to each program team consisting of a Teacher, Youth Worker, and Mental Health Clinician. This role will be home-based in the Vernon-Kelowna area with regular travel across the Interior and occasional travel to the lower mainland.
Responsibilities include:
·Program Leadership: As a member of the program leadership team and the Take a Hike leadership team, participate in budget, strategy, annual goals setting and succession planning activities to ensure alignment with Take a Hike’s strategic plan.
·Program Support and Development: Monitor each program to ensure it is functioning within the Take a Hike model, including implementing our Theory of Change and provide support to each multi-disciplinary program team and team member, as needed.
·School District Liaison: Build strong relationships with District Principals and advise on complex student issues (e.g., student intake) and team development.
·Land-Based Learning: Assist in planning the logistics for single and multi-day trips for all programs in the region including providing expedition support and ensuring transportation needs are met while enhancing our current Land Based curriculum.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
·Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Services, Human Services field, or a related degree or equivalent management experience
·3+ years of program coordination or management level responsibility
·Ability to liaise with schools and community groups
·Ability to interact with diverse people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences
·Result-oriented approach with the ability to effectively organize logistics, prioritize, and meet deadlines
·Excellent relationship-building skills
·Willing to travel across the BC Interior Region and to Vancouver
Requirements:
·Valid driver’s license
·Access to a vehicle
·Space to work from home
Assets:
·Experience working within the BC education system
·Proficiency in attachment-based and trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, and mental health promotion
·Experience learning on and from the land
COMPENSATION
This is a permanent, full-time position with an ideal start date of June-July 2023. We offer a salary of $70,000-$80,000 per year, commensurate with experience. This position is based on a 37.5-hour work week with generous benefits that include:
